Congrats buck buck, its always entertaining, thought provoking and educational reading your posts. I hope we will still warrant your unique analytical view of the riding process now you have your full.

Thank you Insanity_rules, it was a pleasure, and on that note:

Following the tragic loss of our Uncle Bruce, I decided to open up the BuckBuckNo1 Newbie Training Update and get it moving as an inter-active thread whereby contributors to the ‘Where Did You Ride and What Did You Practise?’ could participate.

Each week we have had the ‘legacy’ passed on - two people as selectors each chose a post in the thread and this was copied across to the Newbie Update. In addition, I as the facilitator would include other entries in the Newbie Update, my progress and any topical riding matters.

It is now time for me to move on, because in the spirit of the original concept to honour Uncle B, I think that it is fitting and appropriate for one of more newbies to work together each week and maintain the Newbie Training Update. Uncle Bruce found great pleasure in his mentoring role and I believe that we can all benefit in this kiwibiker community by maintaining his legacy – the pleasure of mentoring.

My observations are such that I am confident that there are ‘newbie’ riders out there, some which had the pleasure and honour of knowing and benefiting from our late Mentor Uncle B. And of course there are riders newbie riders that whilst they had not met Uncle B, they nevertheless have some of those fine inner qualities of discipline and respect in the new found joy of motorcycle riding.

I would welcome Personal Messages PM from people that may want to pick up the lantern and carry on the legacy – that of continuous learning and improvement in motorcycle riding.

[I ask that you provide a heartfelt expression of interest and encapsulate in 50 words or less the qualities you would like to see in a safe motorcycle rider.]

In the meantime I will periodically keep you up-to-date with my riding progress.

Heads Up and Enjoy

I've got my full and I'm still a newbie. I think I'll keep being a newbie for many years, there's just so much to learn.

Guy. Congrats on the lagacy that, through yourself, Uncle B has built, putting some great foundations within this site. Mentoring of newbies is something we can all take on board. Even someone like myself, who has only recently gained the full status, has something to offer in the way of advice for the less experienced. You have shown us how, with a little patience, we can all contribute to the greater biking community.
I take my helmet off to you.:niceone:

I've had my full for 40 years and I'm still a newbie. You never stop learning.

That's awesome Guy!
Hey was thinking a week or so ago that we could organise a "Newbe Ride" on a Saturday soon. Uncle B organised these last year at around this time for people just starting out so they could experience possibly their first group ride, safety in numbers and also meet some KBers and potential mentors. I went on several when I was a nervous newbe on a 900 and thoroughly enjoyed them.
Would anyone be interested in organising one of these and getting our more wise and experienced mentor type bikers to come along, ie. Jim2, sels, Hitcher, Bloody Mad Woman, ... the list goes on.

Nice one Guy - really enjoyed reading your posts; never had the chance to meet Uncle B, but pretty sure I saw you both practicing in Whitemans Valley one time :)

Newbie ride would be good too - I've only been riding for less than a year, and TCWNR I went on the other week shows me how much I've still got to learn.

Look forward to the updates,

Matt

Ok, so I've dredged up the old thread, so if anyone's interested, say so and we'll see how much interest there is. http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?p=984852#post984852
