Professing my liking for several heavyweight cruiser test bikes in a row and I'm 'old and soft'. Thanks very much. More pics of the sedate old fart just in from Osborne now.(And what a great shot!)

I have several Buell tests in a row coming up in KR. Been a bit of a busman's holiday - but I know them better than most, and man have I enjoyed them.

Quite an outstanding range of diverse bikes built on the same platform.
I love the motors and the control the chassis and brakes give.

First one is a quick spin on the firebolt with the Hippie on board for the road shots in the next issue.

Meanwhile, I'm working on my new act: 'The Stunt Gorilla' - 'soft' - pish orf! ;-P

Yeah - don't pay a lot of attention these days.
Have a number of different projects on the go.
Look forward to seeing and hearing.

Shit Dave - you are setting a bloody bad example there, hooning and without the propper gear. What is this world coming to?
Darwin's coming to get you.

track tested ?

Nah - all legal like and mostly on the street. (which is what these bikes are great fun at.) I've done a few thousand road and country K's on them in the name of 'research'.

I think Racing Dave had them at the track last year. I;ll check that out atchally.

We mucked about round back of an old factory for the stunt stuff. Well stretch did anyway.

Just further.

It's been quite interesting researching and talking to the factory over the last few days.

I've found Buell are quite brilliant in their customer service - if you know where to get it.

The online forum similar to KB - www.badweatherbikers.com is frequented by representatives from the factory. You have a direct line of communication.
The speed that warranty issues etc are resolved - and the ability to talk to the factory and their champions lf is quite unique.

I've been asked to send over copies of Kiwi Rider for Erik himself.
It's a remarkably effective feel good as a customer and some of the best PR I've seen from a brand.

'Buell Factory'?, Big Dave here - about my broken bag latches...

They were replaced and at AMPS before AMPS knew they were broken.

Labelled 'Goodwill'.

Nice. That all happened before this from their 'evangelist':

Snip--------->

Dave:

Your first impression of the STT is precisely aligned with mine when I first road it last November. It's nothing short of "Hyper-Fun" on two-wheels!

Great article and if, when it runs, you can post a couple copies to me, I'd love it.

The photos in the skate board park are killer and, in my mind, do a fabulously effective job of conveying the mindset the folks at Buell had when they designed and built this bike.

Don't be fooled by the many common parts on the bike. I learned, as you likely did, that a few simple changes in suspension, length and riding characteristics work in concert to make this an entirely NEW Buell. I confess that on the day I took my short ride, I spent most the time laughing in my helmet.

Let me know if you need, for your story, any photos of the STT being built or any background on the concept of the bike.

Thanks for all the positive words about Buell.

Funny ol' world innit.

I can't wait until Buells are old and worn out and move down to my segment of the market - I'll be able to pick up an ''unfinished project'',a Buell cobbled together out of 3 different models and 2 fish bins full of parts. He can't get it going and the wife says it has to go.

Looks like the Hippy is enjoying that. Might have to park one in the garage next to the "Dog Rooter"

Yes, they need to move further down the food chain so us bottom feeders can get hold of them

Trouble is, Buell riders don't seem to crash at the same rate as sprotsbike riders. And the bikes don't seem to be sufficient unreliable or mechanically complicated to fall by the wayside in great numbers.

Too little, too late Dave...if you'd posted a pic of you pulling a stoppy on one of the cruisers (or the judderring forks and front wheel skid mark to match the one in your daks from said attempt) and the issue would never have arisen.....

Miss 'Verity' is more of a worry. She modelled the city X and I had to wrestle it back off her.

How are you btw? - Heard about recent events

I'm not suprised. I saw one in action last week at Masterton of all places....the dude got balked by an indecisive car driver and gunned it past. No tap dancing on the gear lever, no rev it until only dogs can hear it, just rolled it on and the thing was just GONE. Pretty impressive.
