well yeah.....yesterday turned out to be one hell of a day for me and my girlfriend......its kinda of a story i should sell to the womans day or something.....anyway...

on monday my girlfriend went to the doctors with a few stoumach pains that wouldnt go away.
being a shit doctor he told her to take two panadol and call him in the morning....so thats what she did.....but yesterday the pain was still there so she went to another doctor.....about 2:30pm yesterday i got a call from the hospital asking me to drop everything and get there asap.....thinking the worst i jumped on yhe bike and flew down the motorway and im sure i have a few speeding tickets on there way....

arriving at the hospital i got taken up to the national womans birthing unit.....about now all i can think is BIRTHING UNIT WHAT THE HELLS GOIN ON!!!

turnned out she was 36 weeks pregnant and we had no idea at all....doc recons this happens more than you think....i always wondered why her trips to the gym to get rid of that belly wernt working...

at 9:36pm on the 21/3/07 we had ourselfs a lil baby girl wieght 6 pound 13 ounces.....

we are both still in shock and trying to cram 9 months into a few hours didnt help

still dont have a name any ideas?

Congratulations to both of you - guess you won't be on the Thursday night ride tonight!

I have to add, she's got to be incredibly lucky not to have noticed anything about the pregnancy! Mind you, she might have missed the bad bits but the bonuses that you get during the second trimester would be a bit of a bummer to miss...

......... to your girlfriend and yourself.

Yep you are right, it can and it does happen, that you can have no idea that the woman is even pregnant.... due to still having that 'unmentionable' every month, baby not active at all, baby being carried at the back so no weight gain and for all sorts of other reasons.

So a quick shopping spree is going to happen today.

I can see if my brat still has anything from when my grandbaby was born, if you need ought....... sing out.

PS: I like Charlie as a name...... so sweet and yet strong all at the same time.

Well, I guess you didn't have to go through all the stuff you normally go through with a pregnancy... it can be 9 months of well interesting times :-) This is not to say you don't have some interesting times ahead. But stick with it, it IS worth it, my little girl has just turned 3 and Many Many times a day i get rewarded by her antics :-)

How are you off for baby stuff? Cos well, normally you start collecting it a bit before you have the kid.

Where abouts are you?

I'd suggest you wait a while to name her....the name has to fit so wait and get to know her a bit first.

Talk about a shock! Congrats to you both on a healthy little girl.

My niece has just had a daughter and they called her River. My sister hates the name but I think it's quite cool. We also have a Kaylee in the family. I like Laura too, and used to like Sarah until I met a few I didn't like! You could buy a baby name book and narrow down the ones you like until you find one you both agree on. I'm not sure about Charlie though - I tend to think of that as a boy's name - and who'd want to be called after Prince Charles? Unless she's got big ears of course!

I'd say it's completely the opposite.

Lotto = lots of cash and bikes and women and stuff.

Baby = None of the above, but plenty of shitty nappies and waking up every 30minutes during the night and never having a social life again.

Look, you ........ i was trying to put a positive spin on things for them -- i mean, they can scarcely send it BACK now, can they??

You both must be pretty excited, I hope you have all your baby gear ready by the time they get out of hospital. I hope they still give away the free nappies. The only thing I can recommend is dont waste money on buying a bassineet, they arent in it long enough... just get a good cot.

Hope you've got family & financial support for the new addition.

I quite like Rhianna for a name, but hey opinions are like arseholes. Everyone's got one, and every one thinks - everyone else's stinks.

Hope you settle on Bubs name and she's a stunner by the way.

Bubs is sooo cute, looks like you and your gf did very well indeed to produce such a georgous wee poppit...even it was a tad unexpected.

Not much time to get yourself sorted on the home front, but i bet the help will come thick and strong.

When my first came along, no one new I was pregnant until I told them. She kept herself well hidden right up until the end. We were struggling financially at the time and her first 'cot' was a deep drawer on top of the dresser next to the bed.

Enjoy every minute you can with her sunshine, the buggers grow so fast.

Baby = None of the above, but plenty of shitty nappies and waking up every 30minutes during the night and never having a social life again.
It's not like the stereo-type you see in the movies.

I suppose you think a sexual encounter consists of hot steamy passionate kissing on a rose drenched bed with sombre lighting fading into a morning scene of silence and white sheets tangled around two bodies.

Actually, a piercing glow from a computer screen lit up with images of busty blond females in the nude while stomping away at your bleech white penis with a hairy knuckle hand is more your sort of sexual encounter, hm?

'Do one thing today that might scare you tomorrow'.

That's one amazing story you'll be telling for years. Congratulations!!

Can't help but feel that you've missed out though.... ante natal classes for instance - many times you meet people there that become family friends for life (all the kids are the same age and you're interested in the same things at the same time). You (she) may be able to join mothers groups or something, but the Dads don't generally get to "bond"... really is worth checking this sort of thing out as the support is invaluable - its different from family.

Also you've missed out on those dates (going to the movies etc) with your girlfriend while pregnant knowing you won't be able to do that for a few years, without feeling a little guilty even if you have good family support. Sorry, don't really know a way around this - but just a tip for next time.

Very minor stuff but that ante natal coffee group thing is worth pursuing. The important thing is Mum Dad and baby are healthy!!! Congratulations again!!

That happened to a girl in the Navy. It was quite the topic of conversation for a long time.
