View Full Version : Lunch in Wellington next Friday (30th March)

judecatmad
22nd March 2007, 19:27
A_H, Jim2, Dave and I are going to be having lunch to commiserate the demise of SAWCY next Friday. Or celebrate the dawning of a new era in Jude's riding career. Or simply to drink beer and eat pub food. Or any combination of the above....

As usual, the Black Harp is the venue.

If anyone else wants to come along, do let me know and I'll try to make sure they're ready for us :D

We're aiming for 12.30.

:D

Oooo I like food on payday!! I may ... grace you with my presents... yes I am aware of the 'spelling error' - it is intentional.

Aiming for 12:30 and not the curb??

For those of you who don't know that the White Pages (http://www.whitepages.co.nz/Pages/Search/Results/0,2623,a1281,00.html?Name=Black+Harp&Loc=Wellington&Reg=1574&Search.x=31&Search.y=11&Search=Submit) is online and can be used to locate the address of a drinking establishment, have a map (http://www.smaps.co.nz/nz/wellington/wellington+central/featherston+street/) to help you get to The Black Harp (http://www.blackharp.com/).

Walk down (or up) that there Featherston St in Central Wellington until you see a sign say, "Johnston St". The Black Harp will be around here somewhere.

New venue needed :(

Work's been so hectic this week that I've not been able to phone the Black Harp til today and there's no way they can fit that many in.

I'm crap at organising get togethers so I'm not surprised it's all gone to custard!

Any suggestions for new venues?

It's not that far away from the Black Harp, food's not bad, there's beer and there seems to be plenty of space. I bet they could book a big group for Friday.

James Deuce
28th March 2007, 18:00
Loaded Hog.

merv
28th March 2007, 18:14
Loaded Hog usually has fantastically bad service but Red Dog in the same building is OK if you're into pizzas and stuff like that.

I'm OK with Chicago too.

Dixon Street is almost in the South island comapred to the other more central places we are talking about.

Where's jude she's our leader on this one?

Bugger, been in meetings all afternoon and only just got home from Avonning....

I'd have gone with Chicago - good food and not too bad beer (if you get a warm one, they replace it real quick, eh A_H?!).

Never mind - One Red Dog is fine with me (even tho never been there before) :)

Yip, I start my afternoon shift at 2pm so no beer for me. Well, maybe one. Or maybe two. We'll see. Once the skipper came to work drunk and didn't get fired, just got a written warning. The skipper of a passenger vessel!!
The deckhand kept a close eye on things though, and was ready to take over at any moment.

Except, presumably, when standing on the deck, holding the mooring line, approaching the wharf and hoping the skipper didn't dump them in the gap ...

Edit: or is it reaching out for the mooring line? whatever - balancing precariously on the edge of a moving vessel.

Yeah I enjoyed that and a good turnout of about 17 or 18 people when I last counted. Nice to meet those I hadn't met before. I had a slightly lazy day, started with a breakfast celebration in the office, then sorta some work, then over to lunch and I brought my briefcase over with me for a quick getaway. In the end with a crowd that size and Red Dog not being the fastest place to eat I got away just on the 2pm train and had the rest of the afternoon off. Food and company were great and even Col behaved to a degree so we didn't get thrown out or anything. Why do we never have our cameras at these things?

I am happy I went because
1) I ate a whole large pizza myself.
2) I met some nice people.
3) I feel braver now so I will come to more KB group things.
4) I am the prettiest. Apart from Sallo. She's waaaay prettier than anyone else.
5) I learned about bucket racing. Hmm... may be interested...
So it was well worth it. Hooray for KB, meeting people with nothing in common but bikes and the internet, and being able to chat for an hour and a half and they turn out to be very interesting.
Thanks KBers!

AJTurbo,

I concur, sallo was looking pretty nice, but
I am sure Judecatmad will slap me around the ears for saying so.

I can't help but think I have met her somewhere else, but for the life of me I can't think where. I am usually 100% on faces, so it will come to me, although I doubt sallo will (not without a divorce!)

That was Tollov, he's not a KBer, rides a GSX400 on his learner's license he's had for 5 years, and he works with me on the ferries. BMW knew him from way back, NZ's a tiny place eh!
When we are on shift together we talk shit all day about bikes, we know nothing but like talking about them.

No I never thought Sallo was you but in the crowd I lost track of the fact that after hugging Col up the top end of the table you'd gone down the other end to get away from him. For some reason I had it in my head that you were sitting between Col and jude with Sallo on the other side of Col. Friday brain fade eh, but that happens to us teenagers.

Perhaps I should add, you are both attractive so no worries I won't forget either of you, but then aren't we all, we must be we're bikers!
