I saw one of these the other day, look really nice. I've never heard of the Yamaha SRX, does anyone know anything about them?

Thanks for the info guys.:niceone:

A 600 single, very intriguing, and never heard of such a thing.

Is this a street bike that's meant to look like an off road bike? What was it's purpose? Were/are they any good. Nice lines and I realy like the stubby exhaust.

They do/did a 660 that was better - used by Bimoto (very badly) in their single, and also MZ. Had a mate with the MZ660 sport bike and he loved it! Darryl (?) from Haldanes has got one as well.

I like to think of them as an acquired taste, sort of like anchovies! I don't imagine they'd appeal to 4 cyl/400cc riders, eh KK!? :niceone:

The SRX600 followed on from the iconic Yamaha SR500 (http://home.rmci.net/apowell/sr500.htm) single. Four stroke single cylinders road bikes are sometime referred to as Thumpers (I'm sure you can imagine why) and have a loyal following at sites like The Thumper Page. (http://www.thumperpage.com/)

BTW, the "E" model has an electric start unlike the earlier model like mine which is kick-start only

yeah i know of the term thumpers :) and i actually love them (i do have a CB250RS) but just dont like the yammies. Honda man when it comes to singles :P was going to throw the XR500 in my CB250RS but now im going to sell it, and plus i have a NSR250 frame for it that would be even better! :)

How did that picture get on my post?

I don't know how to do that, so it must be the magic of the www !

Congrats on the good taste macd, I think they are great looking bikes.
:niceone:

Hey KK, did anyone ever tell you your rather "rigid" in your opinions for a young buck?

My first bike was a SRX 600 1986.

Yes I was unlicensed, but there was no-way I could have killed myself on it.

The ZX250R I brought after it(licensed) gave me more scares.

As I remember it was very top heavy, and I had heaps of problems with the diaphams in the carbs craking and not lifting.

I sold it to a guy who wanted the engine for a dune buggy, cause the engine had out lasted the body.

Bla bla bla.

Aquired taste yes.

I've had lots of "online names", but since I changed jobs I stopped being the 24/7 online guy.

But I don't recall LoGo dude. Nice to meet you anyways.

I do see a guy most mornings riding to Greenlane Hospital on a late model 400 honda like yours. Looks like a nimble bike.

You might have a twin out there.....

p.s. you never played planetarion did you? no matter.
