Hi Big Dan
No we did not know Bruce that well other than on KB and he came to our best man's funeral (Old Fart) who also died on the Coro Loop. We are going to meet up with Daryl's Mum on the Gold Coast for her birthday in May.

to whomever going to the site, be very very careful.. it is easter weekend there will be a lot of anxious drivers,, my suggestion is NOT to stop at the site.. go directly to the hall. as any cagers coming around the bend will have no where to go , should you have stopped on the side/edge of the road.
BE careful
i may or may not go (personal reasons)

can't be sure at the mo. The rear has nothing left on it, and I'm stretched to buy another. If it's dry, it should be ok, if it's wet then I'm not sure. And, I'm away this weekend, getting back sunday morning, so I'm feeling it could be a push, which is also questioning wether or not to do such a feat with the combo, and possibly 2 up too..
I'll confirm nearer the time, if that's ok.
Perhaps we should actually arrange a meeting point to travel there with anyway? Since i don't really know where I'm goin! I'm 95% sure on going

mmmmm not sure about all this, is the point to get as many bikers there as possible, is that the point??
Personally my opinion is that I think this is a memorial, if you knew them come along and remember them with the families, if you didnt then I seriously question why you are going ?
Im obviously touchy on this, but with good reason.
I question the motivations to post it on the front page of a public forum, I question the safety of a bunch of bikers on a dangerous bit of road at Easter, and I question the morbid fascination which I am expecting to be displayed tomorrow by those that werent there, didnt know them and are probably more interested in a ride and a free feed.
The next step from this is to sell tickets to the show !!
and before any of you give me shite, I was there, they were both my best mates, and in actual fact I dont want to go, I am only going to support Dale who has asked me to ride her to the site on my bike, if any one has issues with me and this post dont speak to me tomorrow as I wont react nicely.

Personally I barely new them, sort a face in the crowd, throwaway comments about make of bikes, etc but this is important stuff for the KB'r site. Don't think you would get this sort of "solidarity" in many other internet groups with the same number of user's outside of "Godzone" Funerals rememberances etc are for the Living.

Seconded. I met Bruce several times, a few rides, Monday nites at Hells Pizza. Was enough to tell me he was a special guy and I did not go there for the ride and free food (which was not expected). Sorry I didn't know Daryll.
The cross was special and obviously made and put up with a lot of heart and soul.

I hadn't planned to go, it felt too morbid, but I'm glad I did.
I rode down alone, as I always had before I went on my first KB ride, with Bruce.
Most of the people I saw there were the folks I think of when I think of Upper North Island KB, most of them guys or girls who had met or ridden with Bruce, or Daryl and who ride because they love it. On my way down I felt good, I enjoyed my ride, took in my surroundings and felt alive.
It felt strange on arrival, but the families of both guys appeared to be genuinely touched by the turnout and I'm pleased they left a touching memorial to the guys.

Thanks to Daryl's and Bruce's families for allowing us to be part of this very moving memorial unveiling. The double cross is just awesome and a real tribute to two very special men. Quasi - I understand your sentiments. But in no way did Rhino and I just go for the feed (or some other gourlish reason) - in fact, we did not even stay for any food or drink and headed back to Waihi for a late lunch at my cousin's cafe. For us it was about supporting the living (and to remember the tragedy) in any small way we could. Rhino and I have had pressing invitations to go and see Dale on the Gold Coast when we are over there in May and this was from just a few PMs I have sent her with our love and support. We will in fact be there for her birthday - so something special to celebrate indeed.
Rhino has some lovely photos as a memory of the day.

It must have been extremely hard on LB's dad in the producition of this cross it was such a moving and emotional day After seeing Dale and hearing her talk and feeling her pain not knowing her nor daryl i wanted to go up to her and say something but no words could ever be enough to dull the pain LB talked about daryl so much when i was around him and with hindsight i really wished i had the chance to meet him sounded like a top bloke.
Once i have completed the book for LB i'll be putting a copy in a rainproof bag and leaving it at the cross for the boys to read but i'll only do this with both Parents consent and blessing

Hi everyone out there in KB land.....just wanted to say thankyou to you all for making Memorial Day memorable. It is so neat to see you all with your leathers and bikes.......me wanna go riding one day soon! Thanks also to Bret for the awesome ride, felt a bit like a totally emotional flying nun with those balloons! Since Daryls death I have released helium balloons specially for him on special occassions like his birthday and valentines day, complete with little messages inside for him to read at his leisure. Yet again my main mate has missed out on an event that was about him....makes me very sad. Blub blub, crying etc etc...... I hope you are able to enjoy some peaceful and thoughtful times at the crash site with your mates. And please, don't pinch any more of the easter eggs, I didn't leave the boys that much! Much luv, Dale

Hi Ben, genuinely touched is putting it mildly! I personally was absolutely stoked to see you all there. Like you, I felt strange being there, but knew that it was the right thing, for not only myself and Bruces family, but all of us to do in respect of some wonderful people whom we all sadly miss......

I am creating an album of memory for Daryl and would like to add in a section about team Muppet.... can some help me get some of those awesome muppet piccies of the team? You know, like the one Daryl has for his KB picture? Tx

Thank you to all you amazingly genuine people who attended this event. We were absolutely blown away by everyone who attended. Dale really says it all for our family too, we also felt very strange being there but as Dale said knew deep down in our hearts that it was the right thing to do for our awesome (very, very missed and loved) boys.
This was an incredibly hard, moving and very emotional day (something no parent should ever have to contend with) but for our families unfortunately was very necessary.
Bruces dad Steve handmade the boys double cross with so much love and emotion and a lot of 'Holy Water from the Heart' (a lot of which I'm sure soaked into the wood before he painted it) especially during carving the boys names on to it.
We are so pleased that we decided to share this event with you all and had the opportunity to meet more of our boys fantastic friends.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making it such a special day. Luv to you all Peggy & Steve

Dan Hey there Dan, many thanks for the offer. Peggy has sent me a couple, but unfortunately they are very fuzzy (or is that Fozzy....) and are not suitable for what I have planned. Hopefully you have found the pics.
Cheers, Dale

As an idea I quickly created a Gmail account so I could set up a Picasa account which has on-line storage for Pictures for free, this would enable people to email this email with their pictures, then I or whoever has the password to could upload the pictures to a site anyone can view. I was thinking I could give the password to a mod or interested party such as their families.
http://picasaweb.google.com/bruceanddaryl gives a quick example.
PM me if there are any serious objections and I will remove it.

Was taken on a small oregan cam with no view finder so apologies for the quality in places.
Please contact me if you don't think that it is appropriate. I hope that it is.
I ride in this area often and was very blessed to take part in this day.
Warm regards to the families and to those who were a lot closer to the boys than I.

Hi Glen....I guess I could be forgiven for not acknowledging this earlier...I am like many many others - tis so emotional I can only deal with small steps at a time. Thankyou so much for taking the time and making the effort to share your video with us all. It is very humbling to both families to realise how their sons touched so many peoples hearts, and I know that you are all aware of how lucky you are to have known two neat blokes. I only wish that there could have been many years of fun together in the future. Time may heal the wound but the sorrow will be with us forever. Tis coming up to a very sad time for all of us. I cannot believe that it is nearly twelve months, it seems just like yesterday. Pegs down, ride safe, Dale
