According to BBC investigative show ‘Inside Out’, horse riders are far more likely to have an accident than motorcyclists.
A consultant at Stoke Mandeville Hospital found that a motorcyclist could expect to have a ‘serious’ accident once in every 7,500 hours they spent on a bike. For horse riders they found there would be a serious accident once in every 350 hours – 20 times more risky.
So will there now be massive “ban horses” protests? I thought not…

Years ago I saw a list of ACC payouts for a region.....bikes were down in 16th place, horses were 5th after the top contact ball sports.
Horse riding clubs are usually run by women - anyone who is married to a woman will know it's a lost cause, they will win over bikes.

Haha, I use to ride horses, have seen quite a few nasty accidents from falls. I've had so many x rays, been trampled 3 times, been to the doctor for suspected broken bones countless times, my right collar bone and right lower leg is out of wack, have shoulder problems from falling so many times etc...
but then I learned not to fall off and in the last 4 yrs of my riding, I only came off 3 times :Punk:
In 6 months of riding bikes, I've only had the sore shoulder problem.. which is still from horses

Takes some guts to take a twitchy unpredictable herd beasty like a horse out.
I felt bad in the past about spooking horses out on the bike.

makes me wonder why here you can ride a horse in town with no helmet, but not a bike.
i know the virago isnt going to spook and rear back on me. i also know its not gonna leave steaming clumps of shit on the road.
i know cars are less likely to hit a horse than a bike, but a horse is more likely to react badly than a rider.
yes, ive seen horses in the main street of town, when the nearest farms, other than the race track, are a good 30 minutes away... at the closest! the ones over my way would be about an hour or more. to get from the nearest farm is a high traffic main road [from new plymouth]

People crash into trees and lamp posts we cut down all the trees... People also drown we should get rid of all the water too...
Where will it end...?

And people get hugged to death by Colapops, does that mean we should also cut off arms and any other means of enclosed weapons of massed affection?

Will have to keep it in mind the next time I find myself riding a horse to work.
