Not all in that order, however the beloved C50 was my first. My brother bought it for me from a guy in south Auckland for $50. I remember us bringing it back in my Mum's van and getting it home then setting it up on the deck and getting to work. It was a tired old girl, but within a couple of hours she was running, took it for a blat around the block and within 30 seconds of coming back up the driveway the Police arrived.

I had the chance to have a close up look over a Goose today .

Rather strange. I had just stopped and parked on the footpath, when I saw a bike stop at the corner about 30 yards away, and the rider get off and start pushing the bike, coming in my direction. So I wandered toward him and asked if he needed a hand , assuming that he had broken down. No, said he, I'm just looking for somewhere to park. And pushed the Goose onto the footpath (with some difficulty getting over the kerb), and parked beside me. Then locked his helmet, and wandered off , going clean out of sight. Heaven knows why he didn't ride up to the parking place. Or, why he parked there at all since obviously it was not where he was going. Strange people, bikers.

Anyway, i was quite inpressed with Goosey. Nice sports single, all neatly put together. But, my word, WHAT a low seat they have, it must feel rather strange being so low down. It looked to be about a foot lower than ffwabbitt's.

I had the chance to have a close up look over a Goose today ... Anyway, i was quite inpressed with Goosey. Nice sports single, all neatly put together. But, my word, WHAT a low seat they have, it must feel rather strange being so low down. It looked to be about a foot lower than ffwabbitt's.

You are obviously not vertically challenged! Try being 155cm tall and you will think the height of a Goose seat just perfect! I can touch both feet flat to the ground and that's the way I like it. The seat is damned hard though and I must do something about it. I have a sheepskin now that makes some difference, but it's like sitting on a piece of four by two!

First bike was a 1981 GSX250 paralell twin, Got her when I was 15. Saved up all my herald run money for a whole year and paid $1200 for the old pig!. Didnt tell the olds I was gettin a bike and boy was the old man dark! wouldnt even let me bring it on the property at first! Would just do the ton at red line (10000rpm) in top! Bit of a dog but lots of good times had on the old girl.

1986GSXR1100G Got her when i was 21, thought i was the wheelstand king after coming off the KX so used to try and wheel stand everywhere :) Eventually looped the old girl showing off outside a pub at closing one nite, my mate said afterwards "i thought you'd gone back a bit far when i could see ur headlights pointing at me" He was following me at the time... first bike was a thrashed out kwaka 350 S2 drum bike model so didn't stop quick but it was fast in its day and chewed hugh amounts of oil and gas. This bike pumped out so much smoke that on a calm day I could stop traffic on both lanes of the motorway - fuck it was funny - also first licence loss

next came a new CZ 400 2 stroke off roader

then long break travel family bills etc

then new ZXR 750 H2 - then the Fireblade came out and after riding my mates one at Taupo race track traded up to one as well

then short break

currently 07 RMZ450 and 07 SV1000S - riding priority is the RM at organised trail rides and when nothing on finish running in the SV - can't wait to start canning it

Yamaha XS 400 Special.mint condition did many thousands of miles with this girl one and two up.

Yamaha XS Japanese commuter model (didn't look like a Special) triple. Complete rebuild "Woody" from Pukekohe Suzuki took her away literally in 20 litre buckets and returned her, painted original Grey with blue pin stripping,, painter a personal friend also in Puke named her "Yamahaha" and in absolute Mint reconded/restored condition.Loved that old girl, when you throttled on the arse end rose up with the torque from the drive shaft.
Swapped her for a Rambler Hornet V8. Worst thing I ever did.

Suzuki 185 Had this for a little while shortly before our first born twin girls arrived.Hated it but it got me to work and back everyday for a year or so.

Suzuki Gs 850 G Shaft drive, tweaked to the Max for racing with Ducki fairing and Kwaka dropped Bars, Yoshi big bore kit, comp clutch, trick carbs the whole nine yards.This was probably the ultimate sleeper, never lost a drag race with this old girl, spoke to many a traffic cop though, lucky for me they usually wanted a ride and didn't give me a ticket.
had to sell her when the girls did arrive as the wife had to give up her 1959 Morrie thou too.

16 years on and hey hey hey it's XV 1000= TR1 1981 Vintage and oh am I a happy little camper.

Well thats all for now can see myself maybe getting something a bit newer one day but for now the prospect of rebuilding this classic is making me feel all warm inside.

* Some indifferent 250, maybe a Yamaha, in 1984, but sold it to move to London

Then I waited 13 years (!) and bought:
* Suzuki 125, dunno what sort, POS
* Honda XL125, wiv kickstart, loved that bike: set me off on a love affair with trail bikes
* miscellaneous rat-like Honda CX500s, VT550s or some old load of courier crap, never really ran well, but they got us there, wherever there was at the time, and a buddy of mine who is the webmaster at ratbike dot org would have approved, but he didn't know me at that point in my life, LOL; He often complains that all the time he has known me, all my bikes are too tidy, but since I have known him, I have only had:

* a non-ratted Yam TW125, funny lookin little thing, got stolen and burnt out
* a nice clean Yam XT660, owned it 10 days, got stolen :(
* a handsome hunky torquey Yam XTZ750: bought it when I bought the 660, me bloke rode it, then dropped the forks for me, that bike was the love of my life: I wanted to marry it and have its babies ... and now its in bits in his cupboard after having been stolen twice and recovered :( It will be ratted and will be the sexiest rat-bike on the road - when it is put back together :first:

* a sedate but sturdy Yam XJ900, bought in NZ, imported back to UK, couriered, loved, hated, sworn at ... still going strong over in Blighty :banana: I am looking forward to riding it when I get back there, cos me blokey has just acquired himself a new one very similar (although I refuse to do the 'matching bikes' thing, urgh, too twee!).

The RC45 is up there but it was bloody expensive even back then so didn't use it like it was intended. :oi-grr:
I guess the Phase one Hybrid or the GSXR750 y2k were the most impressive, fastest, best handling etc (I think the older I get the faster I was) ;)
I'm pretty lucky now having the two I have now, Oh and I hope to win the GSXer tonight.....perfect!!!! :2thumbsup
