With a cracked fairing, what is the pratical difference between plastic welding it and Epoxying it back together? What is the pros and cons of each solution?

Have never seen plastic welding but i do know epoxying can be messy. Not the easiest of things to do.

had plastic welding done on my RG... pro's... it looks brilliant, you couldn't tell once its all primered and painted... con... it's not quite ever going to be as strong again, so it'll crack up if you drop or hit something again... but... because it did in the first place, not like thats much of an issue

Well Crazefox just glued my fairings back together. Not plastic welded and not epoxied. He has this glue that is freakin awesome! It binds both sides of the break all the way through the fairing and is goddam outstanding shit. The finish comes up beautifully too. PM him.

that glue is good stuff!! for sure, easy to work with if you have no experinece with plastic welding and have not got the gear for it but the glue is fairly expensive.
I plastic weld only cos i have some experience but its no good if your planing to fix cracks with out painting cos it kills the paint on the other side.
forget fibreglass epoxy it wont stick to it that well.
if your going to plastic weld you need the right type of rods, ABS is the most comon type but some have polyprop and all sorts in them so you need to decode the letters marked on the plastic and get the right type to use on it.
