Does the play house come as part of the deal?

Don't knock it mate - with the weather we've been having recently we've moved the family into the play house coz of all the leaks in the house.

Took me 17 minutes to assemble which is about twice the amount of time it takes to build a 3 bedroom apartment in Dannemora.

We need to keep the playhouse in case it keeps raining but thanks for the interest - glad you're finally considering an upgrade from your gixxer.:Punk:

What do you fellas think? Should I leave it on retardeme as a classified ($6,000 ono) or should I stick it on as an Auction...$5,500 start and reserve.

the reason I ask is no one has called yet - will leave it a couple of weeks before changing though.

What's the rush, need the cash that badly?

If you ask very politely, my humble opinion is that at $6000 it's not going to sell fast, being a private VTR250 on TradeMe - they can be found at dealers for $5995. Granted that would be a 1998 ish model where yours is a 2003... but they don't look any different to the uninitiated. Okay, I know yours is a beautiful example, and I'd quite like it myself... but you know what I mean. If you're looking for a speedier sale you might have to sell it for a touch less. Or put the price at $5995 and pretend you're a dealer? :innocent:

Good luck with the sale either way, personally I think $6k is a very fair ask for an 03.

Cheers for the insight. Not in a hurry to sell just thought I'd have had a couple of enquiries s'all - don't sit my full until 4th May but if it sells I'll use the wife's RG150 to comute. I'm asking $6K in the knowledge I'll get knocked down to $5,500.

I did have a look at it on 'tardme - all that white stuff on the ground is a bit suspect though....you must really love that Gixxer!

Once I've got my full licence I'l be taking a few bikes for test rides - you might have sold and be on OE by that time.

Only discerning buyers purchase VTR's so it may take a little time but it will sell because it is an AWESOME bike :)

To any newbie out there - this is the perfect bike to learn on, as McJim says the same thing will cost around $7k at a dealer so sieze your opportunity now :)

I still think you should put the price up higher  Even if for only a couple of weeks... it's in better condition than the other VTR's on trademe.

I agree, just had a quick look on and yours seems to be the cheapest. There is even a 1998 that is on for more than what you have it listed.

I know you want to sell it but don't undervalue what is essentially a great bike that has better extras (e.g. Givi screen) than the others.

I'm guessing you are still in no hurry to sell so no need to discount the price.

McJim
9th April 2007, 16:15
I'm not a motorcycle dealer - the other VTR's are for sale with warranties etc.

Okay so there are a couple of private sales on there for too much but to quote ythe fella from the Castle "They're dreamin'!"

It's a bargain. I'm hoping the sort of people that will bid on it are people who bought a GN250/SR250/Scorpio 225/FXR150 and realise that they bought a bike they would grow out of very quickly but don't want to spend $6,000 on a 25 year old 4 cylinder bike.

It's possibly because I admit there's scratches on it rather than the other vendors who keep quiet in the hope the buyer doesn't notice them?

I just suggested that you had the price up high for a couple of weeks.. you only need one person to buy it. If no bites, then drop the price and leave it there till it sells.

From a buyers point of view they see a cheaper bike and think "something must be wrong with it". We all know there isnt and it's a minter but may set off their alarm bells...

I haven't actually dropped the price this time around though - it just looks that way. Reserve is still $5,500 and the Buy Now is $6,000.

If the auction runs it's course and it still doesn't sell I'll put it on again at the higher price.

Just thought $5,500 would be a good opportunity to help a beginner KBer get a mint first bike.

McJim
14th April 2007, 23:03
Thought I'd give this a bump here since it's not quite sold yet.

Recent work done(last 2,000km)
New air filter
New oil filter
New oil
New brake pads front and rear
New chain (had a tight spot so changed it before damage to sprockets)

I will be changing the rear tyre before it's sold coz the Southern motorway comute has squared it off.

This bike will also be sold with 6 months registration and a recent WOF.

I've sent you a PM.

I will honour the price I've quoted on KB even though it's cutting me own throat!

I've had 2 bike dealers offer $5,000 on the bike as a trade in, as is (means I don't have to buy rego, WOF or new rear tyre) so charging you fellas $5,500 is the same as trading in coz the extra $500 will be all used up after these purchases.

2 red things really one n each shop - Depends how much money the bank will lend me and how much my wife will let me borrow. One is a tad more expensive than the other.

I've got someone looking at the bike tomorrow as the result of a for sale poster in a shop. The bike has a few watchers on Trademe and of course there are a couple of KBers that have expressed an interest.

I may sell the bike, bank the money and save up (I can borrow my wife's RG150 in the meantime)

most probably the cost of a new number plate $8.80 and the change over of the WOF sticker and Rego sticker.

But I guess he will find out real soon..... when he does the two papers that are filled out... the seller and the buyers papers at the local post shop.

I'm currently pooling my resources to see what I can afford.

I was watching a number of Ducati 900ss bikes but unfortunately they have expired and not been re-listed on trademe. I still don't know how much I can spend.

Can't test ride any until 4th May anyway..and thats only if I pass.

21st April 2007, 17:43
It has gone.

I am VTR-less. N1CK collected it this afternoon.

Looking at options at the moment - all the Ducati's I'm interested in are either viewable when I'm not available, too old, too expensive, need too much work etc. I will therefore prolly get a Jap bike.....and hate it forever until I can afford a Ducati. Then I may discover that I hate Ducatis after all.

Should really wait until I can actually test ride a bigger bike (4th May) but then I've always been impetuous.

I also keep getting suggestions from people that require $4,000 more than I can actually spend. How come everyone else is so rich?

So I must content myself with a 1800cc 1994 Nissan and the loan of my wife's RG150 to shift my lardy arse around Auckland.

Yeah, Think I'll look at a VTR1000 Fireyawn or a SV1000S. I might even consider an old TL1000 if I take some bravery tablets.

Thought about a Cagiva but they don't do one with a decent fairing and I've had enough of naked bikes and getting wind in the chest - Ideally wanted something fully faired and V Twin so the 900ss fitted the bill. I've only got $8,000 to spend though. The VTR1000, SV1000s and TL1000s all have half arsed bikini fairings which is what put me off them before.

We shall see what we shall see...oh and I fucken HATE the sound of 4 cyl and parallel twins so don't suggest any of them if you don't want abused!

Took the RG out for a blat - it's growing on me a bit. Cool wee bike.

Im considering the v-twin route also. Quite keen on the TL1000S but they do make me a little nervous. Besides as I understand it they have crap tank range and poor fuel economy to. Good prices!

What about an Aprillia? Get a good 00-03 RSV for about $12k these days...

Ah, just spotted your price range :)

I did. there seem to be some hidden costs in there "We guarantee you can register it" No thanks - if they are a retailer they should register it and amend the price accordingly.

Well done on selling your bike.

Once you've had a v twin you usually go back for more.
I had a VTR1000 and it was damn good, only cost me 7500 for an 02 model with low kms and went well with some nice pipes on.
SVs are good too. Both can be brought at a good price for late models comapred to having to pay the same for an earlier Duc.

Ducs are great too.......my new one is booooooooooootifullllllllll!
Took it on its first KB ride yesterday.

Just the ones off of the Trademe auction.

I think it's a sensible choice since I have a tendancy to try to go as fast as possible (was properly limited by the VTR250!).

These bikes are pretty gutless compared to modern bikes especially 4 cyl bikes but there's just something about the Ducati that I couldn't resist.

Can't legally take it on the road until I pass my test ...hopefully 4th May.

Hey - If I can do Gisborne to Napier in 2 hours 10 minutes with traffic in a Falcon imagine how quick I would do it on a Ducati! Same rules apply - no going over 120kph and no slowing down in the corners!

Think I'll just sit it in my garage and polish it though - better get used to the RG150!

It's here. It's in my garage and I just took it for a spin through the neighbourhood....about 20kms to see what it's like.

What is it like? Well the gears are so tall I can't pootle round town in anything higher than 2nd gear or I'm seriously lugging it.

the sound is indescribable..ask Chisanga..went round to his house and he could hear me 2 minutes before I arrived (was travelling at 60kph before you ask). I have lusted after the sound of a Ducati for the past 22 years - finally the dream has come true. The torque and engine braking will take a bit of getting used to - much more than the VTR!

I plan to take loads of piccies in the daylight for profile pic etc - higher res than the shot I blagged from retardme.
