Where do I place my order??

Not me.
The 'Phase One Prototype' is OK, but the newer model has a VTR motor.

And did you check out the cruiser?

In any case, I've heard that the company behind this was trying to get some money together, but it never happened.

I'm with Vifferman on this.
It looks too bulky with the VTR motor, doesn't work with the simple likes.
The prototype works because it has the "real" motor.

I don't think Guzzi will be crapping themselves.....

What an interesting bike.

Not sure whether I like it or not.

There is a firm in the UK that manufactures "new" spare parts to keep Vincents going. They recently assembled a "new" original style Black Shadow out of their new parts - as a one off. They now have 10 confirmed orders for new Black Shadows that are virtually the same as the originals, except they have the advantage of 50 years oil and metal technology updates.
Fecking expensive though - they still don't know how much they'll cost.

As far as I'm concerned, the Britten is what I think of as the Vincents modern equivalent - not some retro looking thing!

Here's a couple to drool over. The original Black Shadow and the Egli Vincent.
There is an Australian made version too but I can't find a pic.

I lived next to an English man many years ago whom was nice enough to let me park my old VF750 down his drive out of sight from the road. He eventually told me that having the bike there reminded him of the time he knew Laurence of Arabic as a small boy attending primary school. He even got to go pillion on the back of one of his bikes. I believe he had Brough Superiors and Vincents? Anyway it turned out that his father was the guy in the air force hiding Laurence from the Axis forces after what he did in Arabia.
Lot more history to it but thought its worth a footnote here.

Yep they're lovely bikes, but why would you want to buy a new vintage bike?

Why would you buy a Harley?

Upside down forks, DOHC, these are the new, it's not vintage, just retro.

People still buy fuckin Ducati's, and they look more antiquated than this thing does.

I'm sorry, thats not a Vincent and shouldnt be called one.

It doesnt share any of the distinguishing characteristics that made the Vincent great: no 50 degree V twin, no pushrod tubes, no using the motor as the main structural member, with the monoshock pivoting off that and the girder fork off the front.

its just a tarted up VTR, and the proportions are screwy as well: the fuel tank bottom edge should not slope towards the front wheel, it should be horizontal.

sure they use good quality cycle parts and stuff but, no. Just no, its wrong.

If Kenny Dreer couldnt resurrect Norton last year, with all the money had doesnt bode well.

Some Australian company set up in the mid 90's, made 4, then voluntarily liquidated in '98.

I do like the prototype 1, but the 'standard' looks pretty cool too. Wouldn't even consider the Cruiser or Tourer, especially those panniers - way too ghey.

An original would be better, but they're going for around US$50,000, IF you can even find one.

What the hell happened to it - i swear the sport looked sexier 4 years ago.
It had a better seat and headlight.
Save ya money and buy a MT-OS when it comes out.

It looks cool for that style of bike. Generally not my cup of tea, but that particular one looks good.

I know that looks are subjective but.... christ that's hideous!

There's a Vincent seen regular around New Plymouth with a 30ish rider. Seems to be used most days but haven't got a pic of it yet - looks unrestored.

Of course it's not a real vincent, do you think the new Triumphs are real Triumphs?

Someone has bought the rights to the name, and are trying to resurect it, the NAME, not the bike!

About the engine being structural, IT IS A BAD IDEA, the frame needs to flex for bumps when the bike is lent over, it's as much a safety feature to have it this way as anything else.

The original vincent is a beautifull looking motor, it doesn't look right with a VTR lump. But if it gets them some cashflow so they can develop a motor of their own thats all good.

Patrick Godet will build you an Egli-Vincent using all new parts. price on application, (varies with specification) but expect to sell the house to pay for it.
This is the only one that Fritz Egli has given permission for his name to be used with.

This is the 21st century dammit.

They should be hand crafted out of titanium and carbon. Should cost $60000 minimum and do 300kmh.

SV1000 engines indeed.
