And it was perfect timing because as I went to put my old jacket on this morning the zip completely gave out and the slider fell off!
Anyway I am now the owner of an Ixon Cheek womans jacket. I've been told I need to ride it in the rain and then write up a report, so I'll do that at some stage (honest Viv I will!).
Having a jacket that fits and looks quite good is great! Here's a pic - errrrr...no that's no me with the long blonde flowing hair.
I must say that trying to find a woman's jacket (in my size) turned out to be more of a mission that I had thought! It's certainly interesting to experience the varying levels of customer service available as well.
In the end I actually worked out what I wanted by doing Internet searching and emailing a few online places with my measurements. Then I asked my usual bike shop (Boyles on Adelaide Road) to get it in for me - which the did within a couple of days. And they gave me a MUCH lower price that I had expected to pay.
I dunno if (because I'm a larger sized woman) people don't ask my size cos they're worried they'll offend me, but it was quite a frustrating process. It meant I spent a lot of time waiting for jackets that had been ordered for me (from another bike shop) only to discover they were too small. The actual jacket I've got now (from Boyles) was 1 the original shop I went to got in for me in a smaller size but then they never offered me the option of the next size up.?? The original shop did get me another jacket that was a good fit but I didn't like the look as much.
All sorted now! Yay!!
