I like the look of them, have never ridden one, and would also be interested in feedback on everything about them, especially touring and higher speed country riding and wind protection/comfort etc.

lot of coin for a commuter bike (but if thats the justification you need for the Minister of Finance, then thats fine).
I loved the one I rode, but I bought a Honda Hornet because it was $11k and the Buell was $20k. I really really rate them and if business continues to do well, will probably have one as a next bike. I will try and get a second hand one though.

Maybe be your right Mate, I'd probably chuck it down the Hutt Motorway while pulling wheelies.....
Back to reality, I would buy second hand and can someone please explain what the major differences are between the XB9's and XB12's?
Cheers

Any Buell is a good bike, XB12, XB9, X1 Lightning, the list goes on. I use mine to commute nearly every day, ........
Not today as we are flooded up here at the moment and aqua plaining aint my thing. They dont go too well knee deep in water either.
I always arrive at work with a smile and same when I get home. Gotta love em.

Took a xb9r for a spin a few months ago. Loved it and according to the poeple in the know they reckon not to bad on the pocket when it comes to servicing and bling.
Some where on here i have a little wright up about it. I loved it more than the duc (monster) I took for a ride a month or so ago.

Had a small problem with my X1 yesturday........ went to take off and the bike kept cutting out on me once i hit 1000 revs ???? Talked to a mate who said it was likely the fuel injection or a fuel blockage ??? Then it clicked to me that it was the stand safety cut of switch, YES the stand was up but the switch had got moisture in it or something so I simply dissconnected it and connected the male terminals together...... and away I went. Just gotta remember to put the stand up till I get it replaced.

I ride a 2006 XB12R Firebolt. Bought it new at the very end of December. Now 5,000kms later. For me it's not a great commuter bike - all roads I travel to work on are 50kph and it gets a bit lumpy when you're stuck in Auckland's never ending traffic jams. The clutch is heavy and the engine gets hot fairly quickly. But on the open road it is absolutely brilliant. Ten out of 10 on Highway 16 on a fine Sunday early morning ...6 out of 10 in Parnell Road at rush hour.

Hi yáll
Thinking seriously bout a X9R firebolt as a second bike. They werent originally on my radar for a ride, but the missus likes them and I am allowed one!
So I am interested what they are like in regard to economy, range on a ffull tank of gas, parts availability.
I had also read somewhere that the rear tyre only lasted a few thousand K's (2-3000).Perhaps that had to do with the riding style! and was prone to puncturing.
Other bikes that WERE on my list were Hyosung 650R, Older R6 or gixxer 600 or a ducati (probly an older one)
Your thoughts please.

I joined up with one of the Aussie Buell groups and it descended into acrimony and a big FUHD banner at the top of the page.
I meant to tell Rashika that too - sorry mate - i can't go there, gapped it.
I'm dining out on Buell at the mo, I can't be doing no 'fuhd' kwim.
But it's not the same guys is it?

That's right Dave, different crew at Buells Downunder. A bunch of former members (of the site you seen) got together and formed BDU to get away from all the FUHD and assorted other dummy spits by the sites admin.

Hi
I think they are awesome bikes but maybe not the best for commuting.
Oil in the swingarm, fuel in the frame - is that a first?
Parts pricing is VERY good compared to the japs.
Crash parts like indicators, painted panels switch gears is often half the price or less than the Jap giants!
You would think I sell the stuff the way I say this - used too not now.
I think the styling is right on plus they handle I'm told.
Cheers
Jason
