I sort of like the MT01 too, but the Harley will be around a bit longer before the next prototype MT01 thingy gets superceded by some thing more faddy from the Japanese. you do know those whales they kill for research..... they eat them ?

Looks like a cheap Italian knock-off trying to capitalise on the looks of the 999 which everybody (almost) hated anyway? I recon the final build if it ever gets that far will look quite different.

What?

Let's get this straight - Hardly Ableto built a 1000cc sprotsbike called the VR1000, which cost a whole heap more than a Ducati but was a whole heap slower. Then they built a new cruiser, the engine for which was based on the VR, and called it the V Rod. Now someone is going to put that de-tuned lump of a failed sprotsbike donkey into another sprotsbike????

And all for the price of two 1098's and a 750 Gixxer??

As Crasher has said that's one heavy mother of a motor, and quite long as well. I'm sure it'll aid 'mass centralisaton', but I don't think it'll be a serious sports bike.

Shows you how clever the latest Buells are.

What?
It's 193 kg (not light by sportsbike standards, but not overly heavy either), and looks normal-sized to me. And 120 hp (with up to 180 avaialble) isn't bad.
But then again, for $40K (US?) that's a bit OTT.

That's pretty impressive, but the R6 was supposed to rev to 17,500 rpm as well. Sure be interesting to see what it's like when one's available for testing by the mags.

Looks nice, but very Ducati like, and what is reliability going to be like??

The design goal for the new superbike was simply to produce the fastest, most powerful, and finest handling machine, using the best American engine available.

Hmmmmmmm..........

Looks pretty cool tho

Read it again mate......I wasn't talking about the bike, I was talking about the MOTOR.

It's BIG and HEAVY. That's why Buell don't use it.

When are people going to stop critisising harley for making heavy arsed cruisers? It's called a retarded local market, and much of America is flat anyway.

I mean, how else could Ford and Holden survive?

Exactly my thoughts on seeing this thing this morning. Buell have the pick of the harley engines and don't use this one. Besides, I'm not sure of the logic of paying significantly north of both Ducati and MV Agusta ($40k US? I think not) for a bike that's going to weigh ... ummm .... shitloads.

HAHA, you can pay $40, 000 for a harley motored bike!! laughable...
Oh shit...thats what they pay for the boat anchor flxhtcztoxhc models isn't it?? Bugger....Now where's my loan, if we are paying that much I want an MV F4 1000R...

That USD$40k+ pricetag is interesting. It's main competitor, The Fischer MRX650, retails for just under AUD$11,000. OK, it's powered by a Hyosung engine, but at least the pricetag is realistic.

See they had to supercharge it to get that 180HP. Only 120HP normally aspirated with fark all torque. Even my Daytona 955 has better specs than their 1200 for 1/4 of the price, Let alone a well tuned Jappa which has more power and less weight again. Supercharge it and it'd eat the hogley piglinson motor for breakfast. Another failure from yankee land.
