Umm well.. I am still on my learners atm (restricted next month) I am looking at something like a GT250 (naked) VTR250 or something similar. I want a bit more grunt than the GN, something that will be comfortable to ride longer distances and over the takas.

I'm sure HB kbers will offer accomodation to out of town folks, if required.

Suppose I should really. Need all the help I can get. We were going to host one of the instructors weren't we Tart?

If there is a group that want to come from outa town we have an empty house you can stay in. Got an oven etc. Warm and dry with a fire place and bike parking in a shed. Just like a motel unit. Sleeps one double and 4 single. Empty lounge for sleeping bags if you need more. 20km outa town North on the Wairoa road. Fish and chip shop 14 K's away for dinner. Or in to Napier for a few beers. Or F/C and back here for a few beers. Mind you the early start in the morning might keep the lid on that :)

PM if you would like to stay in it. We are next door and happy to host but need to go out on Saturday Avo about 4.30. We will leave Napier around 7pm for home. So if you want to meet us in town and have a feed at the pub we can all ride back here for a few beers and sleep. You can follow me in in the morning to find the venue.

We did this course when we were up in Auckland. One the first instructions you are given is to give way to the aircraft.

Sorry guys but I'll have to pass for this one. Best not commit to anything at this stage just incase. It will be close to the time "little Grumpy" is expected to arrive. All the best for the course though and well done for organising it down this way.

We aren't coming to teach you the road rules, there is another outfit around that does that.
Plus it could be seen as a little hypocritical when one of the instructors used to ride and demonstrate on her Hayabusa whilst on her restricted.

You have inspired da Moooo. She recons she only makes waffles for breakfast. We had a young lady that managed 8 one morning so there is a challenge W. I could be persuaded to cook brekkie for da masses. We have had plenty of practise over the years with loads of young ones here. So lets try this. Bacon and eggs with sausages and hash browns Waffles and cereal Tea and or coffee.
out da door by 8.00 to get to the course.

Wonder why I am 110 kg's?

But she recons she will make a mix of da said muffins and bring them to the course for us at lunch time if we want....I recon it could be a good day myself..........

At TwinCitySuzuki and around the corner a bit for the practical stuff.
Tea/coffee at TC but no food other than what you bring yourself. Also being in the industrial area there are no food outlets handy on a Sunday.

I certainly agree.....was good to see the initial looks of apprehension melt into beaming smiles as each stage was completed. Toward the end of the course it was impossible to distinguish between the newbies and the more experienced....hell, one rider had only 4 months ride time and gave me the learn on balanced braking. With so much information to absorb in just one day....I for one would like to follow up with a refresher sometime in the future. Lastly, Also....a very special thanks to those that went above and beyond to make this another memorable H.Bay K.B weekend. A huge thanks to Yungatart and Mstrs for organising yesterday...even though tart had purely selfish reasons for doing it just takes that to have such a day. even though i wasn't riding I sure learnt a HUGE amount and can't wait to be able to put it to practice. Thanks to the guys (Micro, Stranger, R6 kid) for being patient with me even after a few mistakes and thanks to all of you for not hitting me!!! Someone had me worried for a little while but then i remembered everyone loves me and wouldn't harm me hehehehe.

Also Micro its good to see that even the best of them don't always come away unscathed. Hope the busa isn't too scratched up hehehehe

it sure was an awesome day .. Now that betsy is a lil rocket .. (sorry bout choking everyone out with that 2 stroke smoke) :innocent: .. hehehehehe the lessons sure came at a good time

the slight obstacle course in the morning .. good stuff knowing how to get up a kerb if the occasion arises .. the class room stuff excellent .. things you do not really think about .. & prob should, I know I will be some of that to use in future.

for me I knew some of the areas that I needed work in .. esp right hand cornering .. funny on the day it was the lefts that I kept stuffing up. Discussing how to corner, then walking the corner & trying it ... blardy awesome .. I now have a clearer picture of what I need to practice & practice & practice some more

Knew the principals of counter steering but to be able to give it a go ( after biting my nails to the quick) & finding out it was not thaaaaaaaaaaaattttttttttttttttt scary after all .. & nailing the cones after the second run .. had a huge smile.

Emergency braking .. now that was fun .. only managed to stall the bike a few times .. & finally felt what it was like to lock the rear wheel .. LOL all good though .. will definately practice that more

Tart & Mstrs thank you so much for organising this day .. great weather, great company & great times .. wot more can a person want

Gixxer can you thank your wife for the muffins .. she is a gem to make them on mothers day .. :) ...

stick .. thanks for being a live target, very brave .. but yes we all luv you so we would not hurt you ... deliberately :shit:

to the instructors .. thanks Guys, really appreciated all of your input & kind words, it sure does boost the confidence level, & to hopefully nip some back habits in the bud before they develop further. Most interesting was some of the information that I should know about the bike & don't ... & about changing the brake oil ... (thats next on the list .. esp since its been in there for ohhhhh about 4-5 yrs:shit: )

86 Thanks for the company as always :sunny: .. & helping me get the tank off Betsy ..

it sure was a long day .. up at 4.30 am & in the gate about 10pm .. so a few early nites to recover might be the go ..

once I get my petrol tank back from the panel beaters I am looking forwards to getting out & practicing those things taught yesterday .... Brilliant

all I can say is no matter on your experience everyone should have lessons like this .. invaluable regardless of how experienced you are

Thank you all very much.
Ah feck, I am not good with words, other than swear words, so I hope this comes out right.
I was both humbled and felt honoured at the way we were welcomed into your homes and at the generosity and friendship extended. You guys rock!
Special mention must go to Yungatart and MSTRS for setting it up, Mr and Mrs gixxer 4 ever for thier hospitality and the very lovely Muffins and to Stickchick for her help on the day, being a good sport (target) and hospitality.

Like the Stranger said, a massive thanks to you guys for making the day happen as well, especially for welcoming us into your homes and even giving us a full cooked breakfast - i think Gixxer's wife needs to have a chat with my mum

I had an awesome time helping out and passing on the knowledge, was great to see you all improve throughout the day - isn't it amazing what a little coaching and encouragement can do!

I was well shattered after a day out in the sun so must give a special thanks to stickchick as well for hooking us up with Hells Pizza and bourbon afterwards!

Best thing you can do now is go away and practice what you learnt, except of course what was shown in the little display from our Busa riding buddy!

Mary Moooo, also known as Mrs Gixxer 4 ever, would like to say " you are welcome" and she enjoyed the weekend heaps. She reads K/B but seldom posts here. Too much to do....looking after me maybe......:dodge: .......

I recon it is best she doesn't talk to your Mum or you will be making Muffins and cooking two nights a week by the time she has finished. I think you should just come back sometime and do it all again.
Thanks for your input and training. Was a good day man Cheers

What a great way to start the day. It was cold. But I had a lot of good warm stuff on and had a great ride. Pleased to see you got home safe. Thanks for staying with us. You are great company. You missed the end of the TV program last night. They got a big cannon and no the wood splinters would not have killed anyone.
Come back sometime soon Jamie. Cheers Man
