Well here was me all nervous - when along comes a lovely lady who introduces herself and proceeds to advise me that she is going to be the tester. We head out to the bike and do the rear indicators, front indicators and the brake light test. So far so good thought i. She showed me the little car that she would be following me in then asked me if i was local to Upper Hutt? i said yes then she starts telling me where t ogo and what streets to turn at, had me baffled for one of the streets - kawai, im racking my brains then i realise she means kowhai, so i blurt it out - she thanks me for the correction and advises that she is australian and wasnt 100% on how to pronounce it. So with streets in order and me knowing where to go we head off. I must have maxed out at about 45km/h on the hyo speedo which means i did about 39km/h real speed, and still the little pink car was struggling to keep up.

The Route - this is from Repco(AA Driver Licensing) opposite KFC in Upper Hutt. map attached
North on Queen st, left into King St, down to end then right into Kowhai st, up to the end then right onto Ebdentown St, next left into George St then at the end turn right onto Henry St - pull over here for next directions.
East up Henry then turn left onto Fergusson Drive and follow up to the top of river road. Left at lights then head south down River Road and take left turn off at Totara Park Road, East towards roundabout then right onto fergusson Drive. Pull over - Finish.

So was very simple, i stopped at every intersection, allowed time for the car to catch up and allowed me time to assess before heading off again, thought about rolling through a couple of times but the words "If you think i cant see you then stop and wait for me" of the tester said no. Didnt over exaggerate my head movements but did make sure i looked around etc, and used indicators as much as possible.

Was stoked that it was over but kind of felt too easy, my u-turn wasnt requested and felt like a gentle ride around the block.
When the lady said its over i thought "oh crap failed allready" so i asked her - all over good or all over bad, she laughed and said its obvious i had been riding a while, she asked how long and i told her November last year, her comment made my heart warm "it looks like youve been riding for years, lovely and smooth".
I can feel UncleB smiling at me now.

Sounds like you got the same straightline test I did!

LOL...I had to ride through a 30km/h zone with rush hour piled up behind me...was the most difficult part.

Congrats, now you can do all the things you already were legally.
(well most of the things)

Mine was a ride from Lower Hutt AA to Stokes Valley. :)
A few months and I go for my full.

This easy - start from outside Lower Hutt town hall, go up the road to the stop sign. Stop, look both ways, carry on across the intersection. go about 50 metres up the road, pull to the side, look around, U turn and back to the intersection. Stop, look, proceed across the intersection and ride back to the cop who was standing on the steps of the town hall observing. That was it. I was riding an ex-mot BSA 650 Thunderbolt. 37 years ago

Out the carpark. Up the hill couple of hundred yards, U turn without feet down halfway up, and back. On a Beeza Bantam. Too many years ago. Could have taken it on any bike of course.
