AArg, stuff like that makes me want to wait by the side of the road with half bricks. Or borrow a set of road spikes.

I wonder if they say similar things about bikes and razor wire across the road.
I bet there's a lot of people on here who've done similar speeds on their bike on public roads.

I am sure they do. Fortunately both they and I am more sensible, and leave it as a feeling, not put it into action.

i was going to post about this but am too lazy and never got around to it.
Interesting enough that although we all know speed kills (they keep telling us) at least in the 20 20 report there were no reports of accidents or deaths.
Another interesting point is the reaction from some on this thread. I have been on kiwibiker rides (not ashhurst rides mind you) and been doing over 200 and been passed. Seen 101 dangerous passes that I would want to be anywhere near. How about a bit of balance?

They must all be Finn's mates.
I didn't know this run existed - and my Aston Martin needs a bit of fresh air - will catch up with the event next year maybe.
EDIT: My Aston Martin is one of those 1994 silver ones with "Nissan" on the front and "Bluebird" on the back. People that know me will get the humour......

The Devils Run?? Farks sake. Sounds a little inflated...like some of the head sizes of those involved.
Perhaps they should have called the event the "Whats that Running Down Your Leg Ya Jafa" or "The Cannonball Bullshit" or "The Pineapple Lump Rally"...or something...
Beem us another beer will ya Scotty....

I think this was on the same weekend as the March Hare, we hoped to see them some stage. I thought they were going across on the ferry the same time as us but never saw them and no one knew anything about it. They probably wouldn't have acknowledged us anyway.

I can't see why there is a problem. They are not rich dickheads, they are people with wealth, yes, but not dickheads.... how do you think the became wealthy??? Through dickheadism?
They have spare cash to have fun with... cars are their thing, as bikes are ours. Take a few days off, have a laugh, drive there vehicles fast, sounds like a KB meet??
Sure they takes risks, and on occasion some other road users were endangered, I am not condoning that. We have all been there and done that in our time, if we look hard enough!
End of the day, it sounds like a few green eyed monsters here.
At least the guy who got the ticket for 141km/h didnt whine and whinge about "the pigs" when he lost his licence.
I think you're in the wrong job, pickin them up has made you too tolerant. "The speed must come down" Plus your bitter about the event you had. But I do sort of agree with you when some are just jealous, that they can so it and the cost doesn't worry them. Probably family money anyway.
take two asprin and call me in the morning if you don't feel better.

Watched it too
Really enjoyed the show,
does seem like alot of sour grapes on here though - just coz they have nice sports cars doesnt mean they are rich and doesnt mean they are dickheads.
I see the boys from Hutt Choppers had a car in it too - but lets not get into the whole harley riders etc LOL
Looks like great fun but some of that footage should surely be used to take a couple of license off the drivers. And as for the Lambourghini guy, yes he did pack a sad over the ticket and loss of license "141km/h this car is capable of over 300km/h and youre doing me for 141km/h" classic rebuttle and in turn the cop took offence so was happy to issue fine for no warrant of fitness.

No, but he did call him a "humourless little fucker" which I thought was quite funny!
I realise they took risks and if they had been responsible for any accidents I would have been baying for their blood like everyone else, but I bet the parts they showed on tv were set up for the camera. The overtaking on double yellows wasn't good - although it looked like you could see miles up the road in any case.
Good on them, there were some great cars and I bet they had a lot of fun. Haven't heard any comments about the "rich pricks" from the chopper place in the Hutt - or are only bikers allowed to be rich and drive/ride fast?

A KBer was on that run...... in his porshe.
No, Im am gonna say who it is....... but this person is not rich..... they live comfortably but they are certainly not rich.
Yep he had fun, he wasnt doing the speeds that some were doing.
I only found out that he did the run after he got back...... and then found out the bugger owns a porshe.
The run has been going for a number of years, it is only because of the media coverage that everyone is now talking about it.
As to the bus incident, re look at the film footage..... the film made it look closer than it really was.
Yes, we as bikers have been known to speed out there on the roads, some have been caught and busted for the offence.
Some have been known to do the same speed as what the cars were doing.
How many of us watched the movies "Cannonball Run" and its sequel's?
We all loved what they did and the hi-jinxs that they all got up to in the movie. That was based on the americans doing the run many years ago.
As far as I am aware, not one person has been killed or maimed during this non race.

Those rich wanna be bikers from the hut only assemble bikes don't they?
I'd go along for it but not enter it, just happen to be going the same route as those guys IF I could afford the gas! I can't even afford the ferry trip across.

The guy in the Black M5 is a mate of a coleague of mine. He sure didn't get his wealth handed to him on a plate. He was on the dole at 17, started his first property development after getting sick of being on the dole. By 18 he was bankrupt, started again and did it properly (Legal structure) and is now 23 and very wealthy. OR at least that is the story as told to me.
Oh, I do have a copy on VHS, I stil haven't watched it.

Better to be a rich bastard than just a bastard! Good on them, I say. If they get caught, at least they can afford to pay the tickets. Got nothing against rich people, especially if they got that way by bloody hard work. Several friends of mine would fall into that category but they'd be the same great people even if they were poor. I know a guy who used to turn up to rally sprints towing his rally car behind his Lexus!
