Difference between left and right bar ends?

Is there a discrepancy between left and right bar ends?
on my cbr 600 there seems to be
right hand side, has a half circle that meets up with another half circle inside the handle bar
on the left side (side that im missing) there is no 'half circle' inside the handle bar, and the diametre is smaller than the right hand side.
genuine parts shop says that the bar ends are the same according to the manual, but from sight and trying to fit the right bar end into the left handle bar this is not true.
whats different about my bike? has anyone else experienced this?
i wouldn't expect the bar ends to be uniform due to allowing for the twist grip on the right hand side.

any help/advice would be greatly appreciated

so the RR 's line up!! you'll need a left handed allen key to stick the left one on...you can get them cheap at repco for about $3

elaborate a bit more, my ones are black and don't have rr on them, and its a 55mm screw that puts them in.

From what I've read, the right bar end turns a bit with the throttle, summin to do with glove wear :dunno:

do me a massive favour, go and take both the bar ends off your bike and see if they are the same, or what the left one looks like, inside the handle bar as well.

if you haven't got a left handed one just turn the right hand one over, a bit ranige but dose the job:dodge:

oh do you use an allen key on a phillips head screw these days?

make sure you use the right size phillips head driver, nothing worse then stripping the screw, also use a small amount of lock tight on the tread, then you won't have to do up the bolt extra tight. the lock tight will do the holding.
