We've Just dropped Kel home.
Shes got a really sore shoulder, a dislocated thumb & a nasty cut on her elbow, plus a few other bumps & scrapes.
The morphine caused a bit of nausea which required several emergencey stops on the way home.
It seems a novice on a 5 minute old SV650 grabbed a huge handful of front brake & endoed the thing into a tyre wall, as it bounced back onto the track it nailed Kel.
The ZXR has a broken footpeg mount, broken radiator mount/ engine mount & a bit of cosmetic damage & heaps of SV red paint on it.
Kel seemed to be the most bummed out about not getting to race, & im sure she will be back on the bike soon.
Get well soon mate. xx

Oh I didn't realise that was you with all ya dirt bikes...I was rather envious of your fine collection there. Thanks for your help. Matthew would have been pretty distrought not knowing what was going on. Thanks for bringing him to the ambo for me.

Also thanks to Dennis and Jill(Hello Nurse!) for the trackside assistance. You guys are great.

Thanks to everyone for all the get well wishes and all the pms and texts. Sorry I cant reply to the texts as I have run out of credit. Dont know when I will be able to get to a shop. My left thumb is broken and the Dr told me it will need surgery to set it properly. I want a second and possibly a third opinion. My right shoulder is frickin sore but thankfully not broken. Have a nice big laceration on my right arm with four boughty stitches keeping it together. the worst part of the whole day was not getting to race. i want turn one more than ever now!

Last time i felt this much pain was in 95 when i was knocked off my bike on the road.

Guess i will be spending even more time on here now. Race report to follow.

My left thumb is broken and the Dr told me it will need surgery to set it properly.

Gidday Kel,

I'm relieved to hear it wasn't a fracture in the shoulder but a broken thumb can be a pain in the arse (so to speak) to.

I think you know how much trouble I've had with my toe joint after breaking it years ago. I'd suggest letting your thumb heal/ set properly before getting back on the bike to avoid the possibility of knocking it and ending up with osteoarthritis in it. I assure you that you don't want that if you can possibly avoid it. Oh, & get the surgery done soon if you can, they'll end up taking a bone graft from somewhere else if they wait for a few weeks. Something else you don't need.

Take it easy.

Ok. update. Spent the night in horsepiddle and had my thumb wired up yesterday sometime....i think. The Pre op nurse was an angel and went out of her way to make me comfortable and left me alone when I was sleeping. Almost lulled me into a false sense of security. After the op was hell! Night nurse was also and angel sent from heaven....a pretty asian one. I only woke every 4 hours and rang my bell & she'd turn up with pills and leave me alone to sleep again. Then the day shift nurse from hell came on. She gave me a different pill that made my head feel like it was gunna explode.
Nasty nurse asked my early in the morning when I wanted to go home. I told her ten o clock so she went to sort out paperwork. I thought I'd go to sleep for a couple of hours but nasty came in every half hour, poking and prodding asking how the nausea and pain is? then I spewed up my breakfast:puke: just as my ride arrived. So I had to stay longer and have more horrible drugs. I still hate hospitals.

Its all a waiting game now to see how it heals.

Update! I have been lucky enough to be pillioned by sidecar bob for the past few weeks and yesterday I had my first ride. We got to the top of the Mamakus and Bob kept asking if I wanted to try. I was reluctant at first but once I managed to ease the clutch out we were away laughing. I only did two or three clunky clutchless gear changes but the rest were perfect. I was really worried about stopping again but need not have been as the clutch on the RSV is awesome! We got to Tirau and swapped back again as I wasn't too sure about parking with Bob bobbing around on the back. After lunch I needed another fix so Bob let me ride to Okoroire. Great to catch up with Jimbo and Dragonfly at Oakie and all the mad buggers at the Cow.

Good to hear the cast's off Kel. You might need to see a psychologist about the hand in the air thing though!  Get into the physio and strengthen up again before gettin too carried away on that home physio.

I've still got my wee finger cast on. Took it off the other night and saw I've already lost muscle mass around it - looks weird!!

Any bites on the van?Hehehe...you have a manky finger huh?
Coupla nibbles on the van....not sold tho. Any bites on ya bike?
