good stuff mate!!!

re: your comments about clubmans and other classes....clubmans is there for inexpeirenced racers...to get started...the other classes...are a bit more serious...I can only race in f1 because thats all I can race in with my bike..it wouldn't be fair if I went to f3 and raced would it?? if you want to race more classes move up to the next class when you comfortable with the racin!!

I think you've taken my point(s) the wrong way. You and riders of every other class have the option of taking another bike to get more tracktime or choosing a bike suitable for multiple classes. I can't see how limiting new racers' tracktime is a good thing. I'm certain many clubmans riders would pay extra bucks to get in another practice session (NOT another race though). Hell, most of us need the practice. I'm too dangerous and inexperienced to be anywhere near an F3 or post 89 race but I reckon a lot of new riders just skip clubmans thinking "I'll pay an extra 10 bucks and get double the tracktime"

When's the next race then?

Freck'n excellent man...bloody jealous and impressed all at the same time.
All in all it sounds like you had a minta cherry poppin' experience.
Looking forward to joining the buzz once I get myself a suitable scoot

Good first effort mate.

I hear where you're coming from about only getting one race session, but like Poos says, you aren't the only one. You also said that you were pretty knackered by the 3rd race. Double the races, and you'd probably not be wanting them all anyway.

Best thing is to get to a few track days, get your pace up, and then just do the F2/pre-89 combo. A couple of track days and you'll be fine in there. You won't be a hazard in these short races if you start at the back.

Yep, I agree re the tiredness. I am very race and track fit at the moment but after 2 practices and 5 races in two classes on Sunday, I am pretty sure tiredness would have contributed to my wee off in my 6th race.

But hey, great first experience for ya and be good to see you out there some more.

Umm...you're probably right in my case. I guess the teens and 20somethings would be a different story though. Being a Jock, fthe heat was a killer. I'm thinking of getting some silk to go under the leathers (http://www.nznature.co.nz/mshop/spi//1_SIL_1340) ...best I hide them from Mr Dover though. I gather he was at Taupo but I didn't spot anyone in a black leather cap and chaps.

Average practice lap was 1.42 and average race 3 lap was 1.32. So I'll obviously be at 1.22 next meeting....NOT

One frosty's trackday coming up. I hope you mean F3/pre-89 combo :-)

I need a guru(s) to show me how to properly lean off the bike though as my feet keep getting in the way and the big boys/girls run rings around me through corners so I'm obviously doing something wrong.

Oops, yeah, I mean F3 :)

Maybe you can show me how to get my feet IN the way. Much better that than decking out a fixed footpeg and levering the rear wheel of the ground (done that twice at Taupo), which is something I'm not used to after my road bikes with folding pegs where I'd get my toes outta the way to save my boots and give extra clearance.

I'm doing the Kiwitrackdays day on the 4th of may if you want to hook up.

Hope you had fun, it'll be good to see the bike getting the tits wrung off it at the track.

Just so you know, around that side short track, I won a pre 89 race on that bike. For a laptime comparison, have a look at how fast the leaders of pre 89 are going. www.mylaps.com
