Just wanted to say a huge thanks to Wellington Motorcycles, Motormart and TSS for letting me ride some bikes over the last couple of days, you guys rock
A brief summary of the bikes:
07 Triumph ST
Nice riding position, very smooth and would be a great touring bike. Didn't do it for me.
07 Triumph Tiger
Very, very upright riding position. Also incredible high. I must of looked silly trying to put both feet down at the lights. One foot was down (toes only) while the other leg dangled in the air. Very rapid engine, would be easy to wheelie if you were so inclined.
04 Honda CBR600rr
Felt like I needed to keep the revs up all the time, 600 thing I guess. Still felt nice, just a bit cramped. Would be interesting to see the difference with the 07.
04 Aprilia Tuono
New tires put me off a little as I didn't want to mess up. Ride position very much like the Hornet but the engine was very different. This was my first real ride on a v twin and the engine braking was strange. Tons of power and a great sound.
06 Aprilia RSV
Wow. First thought, love the look of this bike. Second thought, love the sound of this bike. The riding position was the most aggressive of any bike I have ridden, but I forgot about any possible sore back or wrists quickly. The sound and the engine were sublime. The engine was magic and the front brakes were amazing. This was the only bike I got off during the ride just to look at it again (just in case you were wondering, I think this bike looks hot)
07 Yamaha R1
Almost had to have my arm twisted to ride this bike. I really didn't think I would like it and the power would be to much, how wrong could I be. This bike is fantastic. The ride position is pretty comfortable (for a sports bike). It goes round corners with total ease and inspires confidence, feeling like it is super glued to the ground. But the best part is the engine. Soooo smooth and soooo much power. If money was not a big part of 'next bike' equation the R1 would probably be it.
The above bikes + the five (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showpost.php?p=969833&postcount=170) ridden at the Quassi expo have shown me just how great the Hornet is. But all good things come to an end.......
Motorad, once again your lack of service lets you down. I spent almost 10 minutes in your shop in full bike gear. I looked at bikes, looked at gear and tried on some helmets. Did anyone come and see me, nope
