I'm going for a ride, a ride, a ride,
You can come too, too, too,
I'm going up and down the line,
See all the bikes, coming and going,
They're going for a ride, a ride, a ride
You can go too, too, too,
There are Beemers, Guzzis and Ducatis
A mix of Hondas, Kawasakis and Yamahas
Some Harleys, Triumphs and Suzukis
Also others that I haven't even mentioned!
They and I are going for a ride, a ride, a ride
You should come too, too, too
We're all going for a ride, a ride, a ride! *
* Sung to the tune of "We're going to the zoo, zoo, zoo!"
Hmmm weather looks good, Kaiaua is on! I've been given a half day pass and my little ol'Hornet and Daisy are playing rock/paper/scissors (jun/ken/pon) to see who goes for the pootle!

Well, I WAS considering showing Dover what REAL Nana riding is about on Thursday night...
...wonder if I can con the Mrs into letting me ride twice in a whole week?
Given that I haven't done so in about 4, odds are fairly high... then again, she is a pom... them ones are weird and unpredictable...

There is a Thursday night ride in the Sth Auck area... I know of one member who would likely be prepared to sit back and shepherd a bunch of greenies (myself included) so as to allow the 'grown up' to zap ahead and meet us at the pub...
Alas, I am in the midst of a 7 day stretch at work finishing Tue arvo, and will probably need Wed to catch up on not being awake.
Anyone else up for Thu night?

I have in front of me ... the motorcycling map of NZ ... I am enjoying laying down the route we will be taking in pootling mode, plenty of things to see and do (just remember most of the seeing is through the apex of corners and doing is the things needed to navigate said corner rubber side down!)
Hellraiser : shhh! I wanted to see the suprise on their faces when we end up in Owhango! :innocent:  Nice servo there for the next blat through the deserted hill country in the wop-wops!
I'm thinking ... lighthouses, I'm thinking ... fush'n'chups down Raglan way ... I'm thinking ... Gissy by way of Whangamata ... burgers there ... I'm contemplating ... Hamiltron for subways ... I'm musing about Kaitaia for some of that nice pub grub nosh ... I was toying with the idea of blatting to Whitianga for a toastie ... tossing up the idea of doing a water crossing on a ferry of some sort ...
Moi? Plan a ride? That's like asking an alcoholic to watch over a bottle store overnight!

I don't even know if my poor bike could handle such a long winded road.
But god fricken damn if it doesn't sound good.
I think the furtherest I'd be willing it go for a round trip in a day would be Whangamata, and if need be I could get the keys to our little beach house there where we could park up and rest our feet and arses for a bit.

Okay gentlepeople,
I come before you to stand behind you, to tell you of something, which I know nothing about!
On Thursday, the day before Friday - but just after Wednesday, there is a legend of a ride for 250's in the making. This will be of gijoe1313 usual riding proportions and people are free to join in, catch up or leave according to their schedules.
I will say, that those who are riding in the morning, will be riding into the afternoon and into the evening (just the usual thing I do! )
So... now for the plan ... note these ride times are generous to allow for the usual kibbitzing and gerrymandering!
Phase One : Morning Meet-up
BP Autobahn Papakura 9.00am, this will be the jump-off point
Depart BP 9.30am via Southern Moronway to Drury.
Phase Two : The back of Puke - Tuakau
Pootle via SH22 to Raglan for lunch ETA 12 noon.
Depart Raglan to fill up in the 'Tron. Depart 1.30pm
Phase Three : Fleeing Hamiltron Due to Fuel Drive-offs Without Paying
Arrive Hamiltron around 2.15pm. Refuel
Depart Hamitron 2.30pm to head along SH26 to Te Aroha (feel the love!) via Morrinsville (nice, boring and straight)
Phase Four : A turn of the screw
No, we have not been done by ecilops since we are law-abiding citizens!
Arrive Te Aroha ETA 3.30pm to head up to Paeroa to view large World Famous in New Zealand Fizzy Bottles of Stubbie Brown colouration.
Arrive Paeroa 3.50pm
Take pictures of japanese tourists taking pictures of everything.
Phase Five : Twisties! Yikes! Woo-hoo!
Depart Paeroa to ride to refuel in Whangamata via Waihi. ETA 4.15pm
Phase Six : Homeward bound
From Whangamata, it's non-stop to Clevedon via SH25A. At Waitakaruru, people who need to nick off can go via SH25 to SH2 which links up to SH1. Those who are mad will be doing the Miranda/Kaiua/Kawakawa approach.
ETA 6.30pm.
From there, night riding madness abounds! Refuel at Shell servo, have a 30 minute break at Clevedon pub. People at this stage may be inclined to pitch gijoe1313 from a bank due to saddle soreness (softies!)
Night riding will be via goat track circuit, compared to riding this day - it will be short!
Finish : God knows when!
Righto, that's the plan me hearties! Arrr! As usual, people are free to balk and bail out when they like. I will be doing this! Come rain, shine or me on my lonely lonesome! Muwahahahah!
:done: About 350-380 kms all up as the crow flies (kinda short for me, but...meh...I got others!)

Hmm, Well that looks like exactly what I'd like to do, however I need to be in auckland cbd by 6.pm.
I'm not familiar with the route, so I dont know if that is doable... You say you've been generous in your times.. how generous?
Perhaps we could meet at 8.30 and depart at 9?
If so,I'm definatly in!

11th April 2007, 11:44
Oh man, so freaking tempting.
Donor you're terrible for excuses!
I sort of know the windies in Waihi -> Whangamata, but have never done them on 2 wheels... they seem pretty harsh and I think for someone like myself I may need a little break and a caffiene hit etc before doing the 1:30 -2 hour ride back home after them.
So if I come I may break off then and go at my own pace back home, or alternatively I can steal the keys to the bach and have a reasonably comfortable place to relax for a coffee before heading out again (this would mean taking longer to get home timewise though).
What do y'all think?

Righto, just been doing a motogp servicing stop for Donor and zeozen. I was so inspired by Donor's first go at an oil change, I had to get around to doing my little ol'Hornet's one! Cue : much gnashing and turning upside down of panoply of possessions to find my oil filter! Done and done, Donor and I got down to washing our precious rides ready for the days pootle ahead.
Sorted. Zeozen came in and we all roundly mocked him for his lack of servicing! :o Mind you, between us all, we had just enough oil to fill a tall glass! Fortunately we had all the gears and oil glugged in and bikes were happy.
Right - tomorrow, bright and early 9.00am sharp at BP Autobahn Papakura. The route I have supplied has plenty of turning back points so any people needing to be back in Dorkland can do so at strategic points ( I factored all this into the route including generous proportions of time .. after all, who really needs 50 minutes to ride 20kms? )
Check your ride - tyre pressures, indicators, lights, horns, etc.
Check yourself - spectacles, watch, wallet and testicles (no offence to any ladies showing up also! :sweatdrop )
Donor and I will be at BP Autobahn Papakura early to get in some nosh and talk general blatherskite around 8.30ish!
And yes, the ride will go on regardless of weather. I am crazy enough to do this and Donor seems to have caught that affliction as well! :innocent:

I'll hopefully see you there. Something has annoyingly happened at the last minute to maybe cause me to not be able toattend but I am doing everything I can to sort it out tonight :)
IF I come I may not be able to do the whole thing... and GIJoe I hope you don't mind my nanna speeds again :)
Donor
11th April 2007, 19:48
Yeah, what GI said! -----^
I have sought the blessing of the weather genie, sacrificed an oil filter to the servicing gods and sold my firstborn to a sub tribe in Zululand in return for them slaughtering several large beetles to one of their lesser weather deities to make sure of reasonable weather on the morrow.
However, if it rains, it rains - the ride will go on!
After replacing the ~100ml of oil I drained from Rosey with 1900ml of Motuls finest along with a shiny OEM filter, the gear changing is remarkably smoother...
She is washed and polished, and the rims are blingier than a blingy thing.
As GI has said, check ya bikes, check ya gear and check ya bits and bobs.
Ladies and gentlemen, see you at the Autobahn 9:00AM tomorrow!
gijoe1313
11th April 2007, 19:54
Good thing is this ride has so many flexible elements in it, can chop and change and pootle to where-ever, when-ever! Just turn up, and at each stop, I will loudly announce "Those who need to piss off, piss off now ... (I will point in a vague general direction down a gravelly patch surrounded by sheer cliff drops either side)"
And, the speed will not be excessive either - it is a pootling long tour for those who have never done this experience. For me, it's a normal everyday/night thing :innocent:
Trust me. I know what I'm doing (Sledge hammer). Pity Donor isn't Dori Doreau :weep:

Yup! Looked several times - and it's still not a patch on the weather I had for my very first KB ride... lol
But I'm mad, and been caged for a few weeks, damned if I'm going to let anything as silly as wind and rain take away at LEAST a good ride to the Autobahn... lol

I just don't find it particularly enjoyable to be "riding for enjoyment" when I am soaking wet, miserable and worried that I could lose traction at any moment.
Not tking anything away from those who do ride in these conditions, I would just rather have a nice(ish) day if i'm going to ride 400 odd km on roads i've never been on before.
(coupled with last minute commitmeent popping up) are the reasons I won't be attending.
Please stay sae out there and don't be afraid to call it quits if the weather gets as rancid as they are predicting.

No hey problemo, I have literally ridden through worst on my sojourns! I have ridden at night, in hail with blustery winds ... where no sane person in a cage should be even driving (but that's just me!) I count this as practice for my mad cap plans for when I do a long motorcycle ride around the Earth later on!
I will ride ... and of course take the necessary precautions and healthy dollop of common sense along. Seems like there will be only two mad riders of the storm this fine day.
We few, we happy band of biker brothers
Come together in the spirit of biking,
We shall show restraint, we shall be humble,
Come what may, the weather's challenge to us,
We know our limitations, but also strive to better them,
Come from four points of the compass,
We shall ride ... for our own glory, our honour
And in the spirit of the ride!
Now twist those wrists and let slip our steeds of riding!
Per factum excelsior maior vitae!

No LONG gone actually...we only left about 10am, due to Zeocen having to do his hair, or something, not sure what the hold up was, he may have been on the phone with the president?
I couldn't go on this ride either, had to work this afternoon, woke up and it was really stormy and bad and I was supposed to be packing up the house. I thought about texting or writing on here that I couldnt go, but I thought "What would GI Joe do?". So in the end I got up and rode down to the Autobahn to tell them that I couldn't make it. And then, seeing as I was already out, I thought I could join them as far as Puke or Tuakau, but when we got there it seemed like we had just started, so I carried on as far as Glen Murray. Weather wasn't nearly as bad as predicted, it was a bit wet coming home, but that soon stopped.
Can't wait to hear about the rest of their expedition!

No LONG gone actually...we only left about 10am, due to Zeocen having to do his hair, or something, not sure what the hold up was, he may have been on the phone with the president?
Everyone should know by now that my hair takes incredibly long to do! I'm in my own time zone. Fashionably late is so in right now :sunny:
But i'll leave the ride details to gijoe, it'll be a doozy

Well, I couldn't get to sleep last night. Tucked in at 12pm ... got up at 2..4..5 and 6.30am respectively (I always get like this in anticipation of a great days long ride! :o )
Had all my gear packed and donned my wet weather riding gear, headed off to the Autobahn and was filling up with 98 (my little ol'Hornet always gets it!) when Donor appears. We catch up in McDeaths and discuss the finer points how we are the Ewan McGregor and Michael Boorman of this little adventure! :innocent:
Lucy pops up on her mighty Ginny and we have a good old chinwag... when zerozen texts us... and texts us... and we sit around mocking him waiting for him to show up! 9.30am was the departure time... 9.45...10... 10.05 ... by this stage I've chucked my timetable out and lo! He appears! By this stage we wondered if anyone else would show...
Nup! The others pump air into their tyres and we all pootle off! Woo-woo! :woohoo:
Now, I was point man, zerozen in second and Lucy backed up with Donor. We made a good run through Puke/Tuakau and the wind picked up, no worries! At Tuakau we pull over as Lucy had said she could only ride part of the way (good lass, she went with us to Glen Murray and turned around there!) Kudos to her ... she was willing to ride come what may! :niceone:
Well, the three amigos were now left to their own devices. SH22 beckoned and the kms pipped away quickly - I blatted ahead to discover the road ahead and gave warning where I could (pine needles on your lines are the devil, as loose metal on your line are the curse of ages).
Weather was brilliant. Wind was still blustery, but the sun was shining and there was blue in the sky. The biker gods were pleased with our efforts in sacrificing oil, filters and cleaning unguents unto them. Our determination to ride no matter the conditions was rewarded with the perfect riding conditions!
Hit Raglan after we made a drain the python stop at Te Uku. The twisties there brought a grin to my face and I had to slow down to ensure I wasn't getting too far ahead from my charges. Lunch was a sedate affair ... after I recovered from my heart attack when I thought Donor had binned it  ... I rode quickly ahead so I could get a shot of Donor and Zerozen coming in to Raglan by the roundabout ... waited 1..2...3...4....5 minutes... :shit: Did something happen? Fanged it back up the road and was confronted with Zerozen with a "whassup doc?" shrug. I rode on... and on... with a sinking feeling in my stomach, I had slowed to 50-60kph looking for the signs of a bin.
The bastard. He was parked on the side of the road, looking all nonchalant as you like! :angry2: Turns out he could smell oil and pulled over. I give it a quick squizz and work out he's overfilled it from yesterday :slap: Just usual heat expansion doing it's wicked work. He's got his side to tell about this so I will leave it to Donor in his report.
Lunch. I had a kiwi big brekkie - hashbrowns, eggs, bacon, tomato, sausage, toast and mushrooms. Big basket of chips for one and all and a couple of ice cold cokes to wash it all down. Lovely. I call time and pistol whip the lads back to their bikes "we got a schedule to keep!"
Off to the 'tron and through Newstead to Morrinsville .. see Part II to continue this! :baby:
gijoe1313
12th April 2007, 20:11
Now, Newstead to Morrinsville via the 'tron was easy as you like, 'cept for when I did the sudden lane changes forcing my buddies to do that "eek! What's he doing that mad biker?"
I also didn't pull up to visit the bike dealers there for Donor to buy a balaclava like mine (I had reasons... later...). At times, I had to slap myself to remember I had buddies depending on me giving clear leads! :o Too use to the lone wolf riding I guess! :innocent:
Anyhows, a quick fang to Te Aroha where we make a stop at the servo there, to allow numb arses and sore wrists to recover (I inwardly scoffed at such pansie delicacies - they need to harden up more with gijoe1313's patented "Long Ride Restorative via Riding Longer and Further elixir") I pointed out that holy of holies biking route down to the Opal Hot Springs, they were not worthy at that stage and I pontificated about how "they shall be treated to a spectacle of serendipitous riding" along that route another time! :Pokey:
By the time we got to Paeroa and did the mandatory "world famous in NZ" thing with our trusty steeds (we rode right past the bollards and generally behaved in a despicable biker fashion that put off visiting tourists from coming out of their cars whilst we were monopolising the site), I noted that the others were suffering from the windchill factor :cold: (serious that!) We located a local farming supply store where they purchased balaclavas made by zulu virgins rolling the supple material on their supple thighs (or so I thought when the "Swazi" brand label was revealed :spudbooge
Now we all matched. Bank robbers standing opposite the BNZ and looking so staunch... on our twofiddies! :tugger: glancing to the next locality, I saw the ominous signs of the weather gods intruding on our galloping ride of freedom!
Part the III shall contain the parts thereof, not discussed, for the sojourn pertaining to the efforts of the triumvirate.
gijoe1313
12th April 2007, 20:27
From Paeroa along SH26 we fanged it quickly, leaving behind the one rozzer we saw and an idiot of a pickup cager (he overtook an entire line of vehicles and us, to get to... the next turn off :oi-grr:
When we got to Kopu, I pulled over and had a confab to say we're skipping the Whangamata circuit due to the weather being an inclement shade of pissing-the-hell-down. As it was, we were riding towards the Miranda/Kaiaua route where we fanged it to be confronted by the spectacle of a heavy rain front. We U-turned and did the route back to Mangatangi ... the slow way. A 4x4 decided to show us why Remuera tractors are completely useless in the rain. Nana'ed it at a svelt 80kph all the way. When we got to the SH2 juncture, it decided to keep doing 80kph - a great line of vehicles did the conga as we all waited for the "hit the gas and speed like hell up the hill" part, finally, the rain decided to let rip at us and we pulled over to the Bombay servo to gas up and have a break to recuperate our riding energy.
But... before that happened, we were all blatting around the curve on the Waikato expressway, when bloody oath.. :shit: a frikk'n van with its hazard lights on was sheperding two cyclists (pyschoists more like! :angry2:) up that lane! Gingerly squeezing front brake and engine braking to pull up well short of it's back end. We pulled around and beetled it to the BP Bombay servo.
At this point, a large hot chocolate for me - a debrief of the good/bad moments, me laughing at the probs Donor and Zerozen had with their balaclavas (but they did appreciate them) and more cautionary words from me about how "accidents happen closest to home". What more can I say? Quick blat home with Donor in the lead (I had the lime-yellow shirt of "look! I'm a motorcyclist! Watch out!" and it was more useful at the back of the pack at this stage). I've squeezed out the wet gear and typing in all this dribble and tripe. Anyone still reading at this point is a madperson (curse this PC poppycock! Er.... poppyseed!) :bleh:
As usual, the ride was amended as circumstance dictated - still hit all the time points and anyone who needed to be home could have easily made it at the various stops. People who decided not to come missed out on a stonking road trip, but no worries, always more to come! :msn-wink:
And I think, Donor and Zerozen got a small inkling of what it is like in the mindset of gijoe1313 when he does his "I think I will go out for a little pootle" thang! :o :innocent:
Now... where shall I go tomorrow? :shifty:

Sounds like you guys had a good, albiet wet, time. I'm a bit annoyed circumstances dictated that I miss the ride but I probably would not have been comfortable with this weather.
Maybe when I get my new tires and patch up my Cordura so I can be a little bit weatherproof :)
I still have a week and a bit holiday so hopefully will be able to head out for my own "pootle"(tm) very soon :)

You have an amazingly creative way of spelling my nickname :P
But yes, it was a great ride.. glad I participated. gijoe pretty much summed up everything that happend so I'll just add a little bit.
Highlights:
The awesome roads on the way to raglan
The freaking delicious lunch had at the raglan bar (served by hot girls too ooOooh)
Watching the odometre click over to 400km just from one days riding
Humping the L&P bottle
Flicking stones at the ZZR with my rear wheel
Donor getting told off by a roadworker!
Lowlights
Bird doing a kamakaze into my leg (although it was hilarious, enough to be a highlight.)
Pissing around with the balaclava while riding trying to get a crease pressing directly at my temple giving me a monstrous headache.
THATS ALL.
About 5 drops of rain the whole trip untill we hit the motorway home, then it pissed down.. but a hearty hot chocolate fixed that.
Now I'm at home, in my bed drinking a bourbon.. I almost feel bad for having such a great day. Mega bling goes to gijoe for sharing his adventures with us, you have found some bloody beautiful roads to ride.

Bugger bugger bugger. I wish I could have done the whole trip. Was severely punished for leaving early - got rained on as soon as I turned back, so by the time I got home I was really cold. But you lot would probably still be out there if you had to keep to my GN speed anyway....ok, I'll stop blaming the GN for my speed....
Don't forget the best pies are in Raetihi!

Righto then...
The day had started so well.
I had managed to argue with the wife, make two kids cry, forgot to drink my morning coffee and it would seem the bastard Zulus spoke with the wrong deity and the heavens were set to muss my shiny blinged out bike!
Pootled off to the Autobahn, accumulating a light smatter of misty type rain stuffs, and espied a rather sex-ay Hornet with a rather GIjoeish charcater at the bowser topping up with Mr BPs finest.
I fed Rosey a morning snack of the same, and we pootled over to McDs where we sat and gasbagged with the lovely Lucy whilst waiting for Rip Van Zeocen to wake up, make excuses, send numerous whiny text messages, and finally turn up.
Late.
To HIS ride! (Check who started this thread!)
Anyhoo... fast forward... (I'll ignore the obvious ooh ahh bits, we all know the ride is glorious)
Heading to Raglan we were probably 5km out when I caught a whiff of burning oil while crawling around a bend, and being the paranoid b'stard I am, thought I had best investigate.
Pulled over, played with my hazard lights and igniton bypass (that ROCKS!) and got propositioned by a rather tasty bit of crumpet in a cage. (Declined, you just don't know where them Waikato women have been... :dodge: )
So I stood there for a bit on the side of the road, looking all blingy, and cool and staunch and biker-ish and stuff, when my esteemed pootling comrades rejoined me after 5km of ditch searching.
Just about to remount after final inspection, when my cellphone rang.
So I chatted to a lovely lady for a few minutes, and after hanging up, was able to put a grin on a couple of faces. (No, it wasn't the cage lady from earlier saying she had 2 friends...)
I have been offered a position with St John Ambulance starting early next month as a Patient Transport Officer (god that sounds so important dunnit??)
Not as sexy as Speedie and Riff Raffs, roles, but it's a starting point toward it. I've been a volunteer officer for 4 years, so figured they might just love me enough to pay me!
The day is a bit of a blur from there, too much whirring through my mind, and the joy of having phoned my boss and saying "I quit!".
Coming back from Raglan, there was a bit of the old "road rehabilitation" going on, with much loose metal and many signs and shovel leaners... so going through I was being VERY careful until the last 5 or 6 feet, where I 'accidentally' blipped the throttle which 'accidentally' spun up the rear tyre. Mr Stop'n'Go gave me a filthy look and an even filthier "OI!" to which I replied... "MUHAHAHAHAHA!"
The rest went thusly...
1) Got very cold
2) See 1)
3) Went to the 'tron - left hastily
4) Passed through Morrinsville, well I think we did, not big enough to notice if we did really...
5) Did some more of 1) and 2) in Te Aroha - saw some Beef Sauce for the first time.
6) Carried out incorrect passing maneuver heading to Paeroa - quite surprised neither of my colleagues pulled me up on that!
7) Bought a balaclava in Paeroa. If you don't own one, buy one. Seriously.
8) Went through Thames'ish way to Almost Kaiaua, then played follow the dumbass 4WD (4 wheels of death) ALL the way from Miranda to SH1
9) Watched fellows scoff hot choc at Autobahn.
10) Went home - total mileage from Autobahn Papakura to my garage - 403.7km
GIjoe1313 - thankyou. You are mad, no you are insane! And I am proud to have you as a biker brother and fellow pootler. You inspire me. (to bloody walk! (just kidding :) ))
Zeocen - though your ride is certainly inferior in the shininess stakes, it rides bloody nicely, and you ride it very well. Good stuff man, pleasure pootling with you, and may there be many more trips to come. (Leave your bedroom window open and a hose outside, I'll wake you up)
To those that didn't come because of the weather, pity because all up we had maybe 10 minutes of proper rain, and nobody really got WET as such. Take two harden up pills and call me in the morning.
Those that weren't sure of themselves, no problem, never good to put yourself in a tough position when you're on ya training wheels (so to speak!).
Keep an eye out for the shorter, more newer person rides, and go on them EVERY opportunity you get.
I am embarrassed that today I saw roads I have never seen before in my 33 years, and all within a couple of hours drive/ride from my front gate.
I am glad that today, I got to give some of them a jolly good Nana'ing!
I believe I learned more about my abilities and skills as a rider today than I have in almost the last 6 months.
Right, Milo time... catch you all later.

Before we actually got started, we serviced our rides - oil filters and a wash n'wax with me bringing out my Autosol. By the time zeozen (I have decided to stop denigrating his KN nick by not mentioning the zero...) pootled over, it was night... and just for shits and giggles, we decided to give his oil a looky... 8000kms since last service :weep: The poor bike! Has a plonkus gittus for an owner! (not maximus since he hasn't taken it flying like yours truly!)
We also lubed the chains, did a general inspection and talked blatherskite about all sorts of useless men stuff, as you do.
Ooh, blingy shiny shine and general bike pr0n phwoar! Yeah, ok, they're only twofiddies, but they're ours!
And a pic of Daisy 'cause she's hot and is smmoooookkking! (Jim Carrey Mask accent)

Truly the biker gods look down upon you and smite you with their curses and swords of Damocles! You feel like changing some fork seals on Daisy tomorrow arvo? I'm going to do the deed since she needs her legs to be lagged! Lagged I say! (bling to whoever knows what the heck I'm referring to!)
Fork seals could be fun, I have some chores to complete in the morn, and a shed to build... will have to see how it goes.
Hoping to try and have a stab at putting this alarm in Rosey tomorrow, but frankly it's scaring the hell out of me...

Do you not have to do 24/7 rotating shifts as an ambo then?
Nope, Mon-Fri regular joe hours...
Will explain more when I see ya next :)

Hopefully i'll be going riding tommorrow so if I'm in your area i'll text you and pay you a visit. Not that I can be any help in installing the alarm mind you but I can point at stuff and offer useless advice :)

I'm getting the same alarm on the 2nd shipment so if you wanna wait we can freak out together ?
And you should wait till after 6pm to do the fork seals, so I can come watch!!
Can never have enough mechanical bike information in the ol memory banks!

They do, but I'm also modding the alarm to go off whenever something gay comes within a 5 metre radius of it.
....like, say, a Honda.
*ooOOooh* We must be growing, we're no longer accepting everything.. we're slowly moving onto insulting bikes! Ahhh the road to a full licence hehe..

To continue the banter - your bike couldn't get within 5 metres of mine... maybe 5 km if you were lucky and I slowed down... rugby, lion red, grrr, grrrr :)

Mat, what time are you working tomorrow?
I'm going to be home all day, feel free to pop over, we can stare at the instructions and make 'hmmm' and 'tut' sounds whilst looking all blokey and knowledgeable.
...until we con someone into showing us how it's actually done... :D

 I'm up banging nails and doing manly man DIY stuff at the moment, with this fark'n rain, not much cop of finishing off the patio/roller gates/etc. I think I will start work on Daisy's forks since it's all under cover work!
Donor : If you need a hand with the alarm, I'm becoming a whizz at installing electrical gadgety thangs - I'll be installing a remote switch for the LED lights this arvo as well on the little ol'Hornet! :woohoo:

Hey GIJOE, what time do you expect to arrive in Ngaruawahia? Is it this Saturday that the ride is happening? If I'm awake when you pass through Ngaruawahia, I, and perhaps a few other Hamilton bikers might come along for a bit of a um...... you call it a 'pootle'?
That sounds like a good way to get lost in gijoe1313's pootling business! Yeah, we should be going through relatively early 8.30ish I should say (I know how it works when other people are involved in a group ride  That's why I so often end up pootling around by myself! :msn-wink: )
Give me your contact details so I can give you a wake-up call!

I'm thinking about a pootle down to Te Aroha where we tootle down the lovely road that leads to some hot springs. From there a zootle around to Tauranga back to Katikati and a lootle to Paeroa.
From there it is a dootle to Kopu and a merry wootle back to Dorkland via Kaiaua/Clevedon. I have found my plans for my pootle around the lower north island in disarray due to family commitments. I will have to settle for a shorter one on Saturday.
Beginning at 6.30am... riding through SH22 and zipping across from Glen Murray to Rangiri and do through to Ngaruawahia and across Gordonton and hooking up to Te Aroha!
Around 300km as the crow flies  *sigh* not the length I would like, but I think it will have to do :weep:
Anyone mad enough to join me? It won't be ridden at excessive speeds and will be plenty of stops!
whoo hoo a big ride!!!!! havnt done a biggish ride for ages, im definetly in!! so meet you guys at autobarn mcD's then, 6.30am, no trouble for a dairy farmer lass like myself, but crap that will mean a 6am leave from here......5.30am get up.......all for the love of biking:love: c u there!

The truth is out that I know absolutely 0% about mechanics :( That's what mechanics 101 is for though, damnit ! Damn mechanic jocks bullying me.. "what's this? A ratchet? It looks like a spoon."
Just wait till they have photoshop trouble, then they'll come crawling back, oh yes.
All in all good clean fun, thanks for the dinner gijoe, and donor, I hope your alarm goes off at 3am!

 Well Donor finally tootled off home at the midnight witching hour - I think he started to turn into a pumpkin!
As for the horror that we could actually find a 25 year old male who has not used a ratchet ... or couldn't recognise one :gob: If'n I knew that, I would have gotten the wayward lad to get stuck in!
The funny thing about the wiring was when everyone gave the job to me! :eek5: Jeaves was the main man and he got the wiring sorted out! It was a bit funny bouncing ideas off each other ... and having the others go   :dodge:
Anyway, was good to see the crew had gotten the forks off Daisy after I had to tootle off in a cage for a wee while. Turns out they managed to make some new bike tools using available non-tool material :niceone:
And, to top it all off - I couldn't find my fork seals for Daisy! :weep: Will have to order some more ... and watch them turn up after I get the new ones!
I think this thread is turning into a bit of a monster! Will have to divvy it up into new threads so people won't get confoozled!
Nice work one and all, I'll try to get the next spanner night sorted for the forks again!
:done:

I definately had fun removing all the screws I could find from Daisy's front end and using the old wood and hammer trick to remove the forks.
Prior to tonight the most techomalogical thing I had done to a bike was lube the chain :)
Great fun and a nice ride home in the dark.

I'm utterly confused about the 8am Friday ride. Would somebody be so kind as to explain what's going on? I'm correct in assuming this has nothing to do with Tauranga?
Lol. My thread comprehension skills begin to fail once Justin makes a string of consecutive posts :innocent:
