Can anyone recommend a decent outlet to buy a helmet on line in New Zealand? Most the bike shops I've looked at on line look pretty poor, have bikes listed but what about accessories?

Also depends what brand/model you want, as many bike shops stcck only limited ranges of only one or two makes.
I know Motomail has a good range, and if they haven't got the right size in stock, they can get it quickly. I think AMPS do too.

We gladly do mail order if you know what you want. Otherwise it's difficult to list 15,000 different accessories.
Try the helmet manufacturers website for models, graphics, etc, then check with us if it's available.

Well, it would nice to see what brands (at least) are stocked, AMPS site is quite well laid out but again, surely you could list brand names? Whats the point of a website if I have to phone for info, sorry, not having a go personally but it is interesting how some motorcycle dealers have a website and how little info is on them. I, from time to time, get emailed websites to peruse and fill out an evaluation for the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce, even someone like Motomail dont seem to have an e-commerce site, must be more economical than printing out their flash catalogue that they send out? Probably end up buying something off ebay......

We can get you anything that has a NZ distributor.
Personally, I like to go shopping in person and touch stuff, try gear on, etc.

You could say the same for an awful lot of websites, and it's probably because of what's required to keep them up to date (and they're practically useless if they're not current). I think most websites are just tokenism - "Look at us! We're modern! We're web-enabled!"
Motomail's website has slipped a bit - perhaps someone who no longer works there was keeping it up to date?

Yeah, Lou, but how would you feel about people coming in and trying your gear on and then buying off the net because you're too expensive? I realise you can get anything from a NZ distributor as can most shops down here in Chch too I guess.

Yeah, that happens Gav. It happens a great deal to a certain bike accessory outlet in Auck. We all just have to live with it.
One advantage in dealing with a NZ based retailer is that problems are quickly resolved. Unlike the unfortunate customer that bought a helmet over the net and then lost a visor pivot. No parts are available in NZ, so he has a long helmetless wait even if he can locate the bits needed.
Xj/frosty, this is just my service to the KB fraternity. Out of the goodness of my heart.
