So I'm looking at an exhaust for the GPX, mainly for the sound. Was going to de-baffle the OEM exhaust, but after some searching here sounds like that isn't the way to go.

Anyone have any preferences for aftermarket on the GPX?

or another thing is to visit www.twobros.com and check out the exaust system they have for the gpx. its under ex250 or something like that.

I'm not certain but I'm pretty sure 2 into 1 = goodbye center stand.

Ok looked at twobros and it's about 700 bux and 4 to 5 weeks to wait.
Emailed Neptune to see what they can do, and awaiting a reply. Otherwise when I go in for my service the guys at Mt Eden know someone who can rip the baffles out. They did it to their demo and it sounds pretty good :)

Don't get Mt Eden to get it de-baffled.

Spend the money and get an aftermarket one

Heh funny thing is it isnt the money its the time. I'm impatient. Will wait until I get an answer from Neptune. I really want one of their black oval exhausts on my bike. Think it would look great.

That's $US413.98. Which is close to $NZ600. Plus shipping.

I'm going to call custom chambers tomorrow and see what they can do..

fjones
9th April 2007, 19:41
Ok, just got an email back from Neptune. They dont do one for a GPX at all..... :(

So tomorrow it's custom chambers, wait for the twobros, or just debaffle

I'd like to hear what your quote from Custom Chambers is, if you have no issues posting it up here. I badly need some headers (a 2-into-1 would be nice) as the surfaces of mine are rusted to shit.

I've decided I'll end up going with the twobros route now. So let you know when I get it :)

lol well what do you expect im from gizzy
people here are different kinda or maby its just me...
i wanna put a neon on it too.

i wunder if i can get it to pull wheelys??? pha doubt it:lol: !!

this is the gizzy way...
if its red its faster than another one the same its gotta have flames, neons, be lowered, or have any other type of "boy racer type stuff" custom paint jobs are essential and last but not least its gotta sound good no one cears what it looks like as long as it sounds fast..

lol.

All I did with my gsx250 was put a really sharp 30mm steel rod all the way down the guts of the muffler with the aid of a big hammer. It takes about 1 minute to do. It went straight through the baffles and made it sound alot better. It saved big bucks.

11th April 2007, 17:48
I remember a little poo-pooing when I wanted to do the same to my 250. Don't listen to 'em, sure it is really a waste of money, but fuckit, you only live once.

Might I suggest a carb kit from www.factorypro.com for your GPXes after the exhaust mods?

Crap that sucks. What year is the GPX?

Took mine in for the first service the other day (1000km) and it was $158.00. Before I get all bent up about how much it was, whats involved with a first service. The invoice pretty much just showed an oil change....

twobros, yoshimura, and probably any other company selling pipes in the US will probably have a pipe for the GPX/EX250... look up EX250 on ebay.com and see what you come up with. I think that Yoshimura's offering for the EX250 would look damn SEXY on a ZXR250C

jeremysprite
17th April 2007, 13:00
Apparently you can wheelstand a ZZR250 by redlining it in 1st and banging it (clutchless) into 2nd. So it should work with a GPX, being same engine and lighter front end because of less plastic. Bags not trying though.

17th April 2007, 14:13
well i think its about 2 weeks old now.

what they dont no wont hurt lol.

and it now clicks into neutral between gears 5 and 6. i think a small trip to the shop tomorrow is in order.

iv done 839kms haha.

droping clutch at about 10,000rpm in 1st just crawling makes it lift about 30 cms..... it was an accident :innocent:

jeremysprite

I second that. 839k's and it slips outta 5th??? Lol it's your bike, if you've got the $$$ then thrash it!

2strokegirl
19th April 2007, 13:01
the guy in the shop said the gears wernt set right or something like that. it doesent just slip out it does it when i change from 5 to 6 maby im just not clickin it up enough and its only done it twice.

xwhatsit
19th April 2007, 14:11
Could be the chain tension. If chain tension is too tight or too loose (quite possible when the bike is new, I would think), the gears can sometimes be a little stiff. I know when my chain gets loose, or I tighten it too much (the Haynes manual says to tighten it too tight, I think), I have problems between first and second, and I get neutral if I don't really bang it through.

False neutrals between 5 and 6, or 4 and 5 on a 5-speed box seems to be quite common on older bikes. Some guy told me that Suzuki gearboxes in particular are famous for having false neutrals all through the box, although I don't know how true that is.

Use the clutch.

Kawasaki claim 37hp at the rear wheel don't they.
That seems a little at odds with the dyno chart on the two bros exhaust

Or is it a different kind of hp they're talking about?

2strokegirl
28th April 2007, 16:44
it could posibly be. im just thinking if its a exaust made to up the proformance of the gpx then wont it do that?? in the manual thingy it says theres like 3 different models so maby the hp is different with the different models?

2strokegirl
7th May 2007, 19:04
mine seems to like wobble round the corners when you get low.

the shop wont do the baffels now they reckon they dont wanna do it cos it might stuff up the performance levels etc etc. sooo anoying!! felt like saying well wheres the hacksaw il do it myself.

fjones
8th May 2007, 13:44
haha,

you would think if you wanted to do something to your bike it would be a non issue. Especially seeing as you can't claim performance under warranty.

Lol I have to wear earplugs cos my exhaust is holed - it's really loud! Sorry to the neighbours, hope I didn't wake you up at 12am, I just had to warm my bike up as it'd been sitting for a coupla days...
Anybody know if I can swap shocks for a ZZR?

2strokegirl
20th May 2007, 10:40
haha yeah i was thinking of doing a road trip round the north island some time so if i get to aucks then you can take the baffels out.

and just a question to the gpx riders... whats your bike like to start?? mines a bitch. if i start with the choke on it goes bada bada then cuts out... and if i start it with no choke it does the same thing about 5 times then it starts.

jeremysprite
20th May 2007, 14:41
If I get the throttle/start timing right, I can start it on a not-too-cold morning w/o choke. Choke it on the cold mornings, starts 1st time. Warm sunny days I can normally start it first try w/o choke.

2strokegirl
20th May 2007, 18:23
we havent had any cold mornings yet its usualy quite warm but it still doesent wanna start first pop. if it was a human it would say.. "if i HAVE to" when it starts. lol

I tend to start it full choke, move it to a touch above half once it fires then get my gear on. By the time my gear is on I can move the choke to about 25% then ride off. A few blocks down the rode I turn my choke off. Seems to work alright for me when it's cold.
