Sounds like a fantastic plan and I'd love to have joined you...but seeing as I've only got my learners...

Enjoy! :scooter:

so why does only having your learners stop you?

I haven't been on any decent rides since I bought my bike, too much commuting. Are there regular gas stations on the route? Shes a thirsty beast with a small tank.

Yep regular gas stops are available, now leaving 9AM FROM THE PEG HOTEL.

Woulda jumped at this one, but have to work Monday, Though a consolation is I get a ride to Middlemarch at the end of the week for the "Off the Rails" rally.

I'm keen, 9am sounds a little more social as well. It would be nice if a few more people off here joined in too, I often think Canterbury is under represented in the "Meetings and Events" forum so don't just think about it, . . . DO IT!
200BUSA, I'll text you tonight.
Cheers.

Should be a few more coming along with us.Have to wait and see who does turn up in the morning but you are right there doesnt seem to be a good turn out from the Canterbury guys.Need to have more rides and not just going to the rallies as not all of us can get the weekends off to attend a rally.

Yeah, think I'll come out with you, if the weather looks like it will hold. I've had enough rain for a while, I was up at Seddonville last weekend.

Well, it's like this...I'm a fairly law abiding citizen and having only my learners licence means that I'll only ride 70km/hr (or thereabouts) on the open road. Would hate to hold you up! :bye:

However give me another month and a half and I'll have my restricted. I'll definitely be a starter then!!!

Mind you, I'm always keen to take some short rides round the town to increase the skills. So if someone is willing to be a mentor or just give me some pointers, let me know. Cheers.

Yeah I'm still thanking my lucky stars for that one! It was a great ride, hopefully next time I'll be a little better prepared. Thanks to all you guys for your patience hobbling into Greymouth and for the offer of the pillion from Orangeback if I had to leave the bike over there.
Look forward to next time.

Would have been a great day to do the long block
Was in Nelson for the weekend rode up Saturday & back today through the lewis. Wasn't overly flash on Saturday but today was a blinder :sunny:

Did you guys see the 2 cars just close to Maruia Springs? the old station wagon ploughed into the side of the hill by the 2nd single lane bridge and the other car down the bank just before the Hotel

Old plod was patrolling the road between Maruia springs & Springs Junction too, No-one get sprung?

We saw the car that went into the bank but not the one that went over, was it on our side -if the other side maybe why we didnt notice it.Saw a few HP but not the numbers i thought would be on the road. But the traffic we saw was pretty well behaved for a change. The roads were good as was the weather.

The wagon in the hill looked like a scarfies car, the one down the bank was about 200m up the road from the Maruia Springs Hotel on the river side of the road (R/H side heading towards the hotel in amongst the trees).

I'd stopped a couple of km before the M/S hotel & the HP car went past heading the same direction & when I saw him again he was sitting in the Hotel carpark facing back towards Springs Junc. The HP car at Culverden was chatting to a Harley went I went through there.
Came back through mid arvo & the traffic was building up  bloody campervans were causing headaches, though still managed Murchison to Culverden in just under 2hrs :innocent:

We missed the car down bank as we were heading towards Reefton and that meant we missed the traffic as they were going opposite way to us until we got the traffic at Arthurs Pass,we saw HP in Culverden but not many after that.Lots of Fendalton tractors towing boats but slow traffic was actually pulling over and letting others pass,so i must say that the motorists we came across were well behaved and actually used there mirrors and there brains for a change.

Makes a difference when the tin-tops actually think a bit  had a truck wave me past when heading through Owen river & when I stopped for fuel at Murch he carried on through, I picked him up again on the way to Springs Junc and he waved me through again :Punk:

Hey, Garfield, it was no problem. You would do the same for any of us. You wer lucky someone was open.
The time before last I was on the West Coast, one of the group had an off down a bank. Wrecked a nice Aprilla. A bald tyre is nothing.
It WAS a great day out, thanks Busa for organising the ride. We need more of this, eh?
