DAR ES SALAAM: A Tanzanian who went to a witch doctor in search of the power to resist bullets and knife attacks died when ritual cuts made on his body proved fatal.

He was one of four suspected robbers from a village in Kasulu district in western Tanzania who visited the witch doctor on a quest for magic, the African newspaper reported on Tuesday.

The ritual included cutting their skin and rubbing in potions and powders.

The witch doctor fled after the man died from profuse bleeding, the newspaper said, adding that the three survivors were arrested when they went to a hospital.

Dunno if its a true Darwin award given the popularity of witch doctors in Africa still. True Darwin award contenders are really the ones that go to extra lengths to inadvertantly do themselves in

Well apparently he gets an additional medal for showing good sportsmanship.

The poor guy though, I was watching the midday news and he was so proud of his Bronze. I think in the eyes of the crowd he was the winner - if ya know what I mean.

Yeah K14 it's the same guy. :argh:

Really? He wouldn't have fared so well if he'd tried to tackle Schumie on the way past...

A drunk Roman Catholic priest on a mission. If that's what the promise of the second coming does to people, then "Beam me up Scottie!"

Bit suspicious of that one... you dont use oxygen tanks or any tanks for that matter to do "spot welding"

If you're talking 'spot welding" as in the way car bodies are assembled in the factory, I agree - those spot welders are like dirty big pincer clamps and they're electric, not gas, but you *could* use a gas welding set to do little "spots" of weld rather than continuous runs.
Wouldn't put anything past an Australian.

...especially one who was undoubtedly loaded up on XXXX to keep the heat of the sun at bay while he was on the roof!
