Hey guys an' gals. There is a newly setup Bike and Scooter Club at the Uni of Auck called MadSAM (Mad Scooters and Motorcycles Club). The biker community is growing and this club hopes to bring them together for rides, general picnic-type gatherings and other social events. We are also open to any and all ideas and if any member has a request for a particular type of event then we will work with them to make it happen. We currently have about 35 members and have had a lot of interest. It is not limited to university members so if you are a keen rider, like to meet other riders and have a great attitude then you are more than welcome to join.

We have also approached dealerships to gain sponsorships in the form of discounted parts, accessories, servicing etc. for members and so far we have recieved positive feedback from the dealers (they're really keen)!!! Hopefully we will have a sponsor finalised by the end of the mid-term holidays.

We are having our first general meeting at 4pm this Sunday, the 15th of April at the parking lot opposite the Burger King at Mission Bay. Membership is just $3 for a year so come along and join up now!! You are welsome to bring all your mates too, whether they want to join or just want to have a good time.

Cheers,
Nish.

Dude you've already posted once about this...

And what is wrong with just calling it AUMCC?

If you use the search function you will be able to find all the posts and threads relating to Auckland University, rather than opening new threads it might pay to get talking in one of those existing threads.

Hehe yep all are welcome to join (although I don't actually know what a 250 Burgman is, I'm sure we can make room) :), and I posted this here for two reasons:

1) I'm new to KB and didn't realise that people could actually just search for posts relating to particular topics.

2) Having realised that people could search for it, it still wouldn't hurt to list it again in a different place that gets more views.

Cheers,
Nish. :)

Burgmans are grown-up scooters, so I'm sure you'd be able to claim more cred than a Class1-holding-49cc-person. Hope to see you there.

hey guys,
as the weather was very "iffy" the meeting was postponed to next Sunday, the 22nd of April. I would like to thank all those who made the effort to come along anyway!! Its great to see the commitment and thanks for sticking around with me. Would have been a boring hour for me if I had to wait round for stragglers by myself :) Hope to see the whole crew there next weekend and anybody else that is interested.

Cheers,
Nish. :)

Hey guys,
the 3 committee members (Dan, Phil and myself) had a long chat the other night just trying to get some stuff sorted and this is what we got:

1) Organising membership cards.
2) Hopefully have the final discussions with a dealer this weekend and have their backing. As the club grows we'll approach more dealers and broaden our network.
3) There is a ride being organised on Sunday by a club member so email me or txt me and let me know if you want more details and ill email them to you.
4) We are having a sign-up post set-up outside the gym coming wednesday and hopefully we'll catch all the bikers that park on Symonds St.
5) Oh and most importantly we talked about a name change as MADSAM was not sitting well with people. We basically shortened it to SMC (Scooter and Motorbike Club) but if there are any suggestions please bring them forward.

Cheers,
Nish. :)

Hey mate.
One of the reasons that we chose to separate bikes and scooters was because although scooters are motorbikes, we did not want to discourage people with scooters from joining. The biggest reason is because the President and the Treasurer of the club (2 of 3 committee members) both own scooters and this club was initially started as the Scooter Club!

We thought also about calling it Motorbike and Scooter Club (MSC) but it sounded like some sort of STI or a horrible new partry pill so we decided against it.

Cheers,
Nish. :)
