Saw in the paper of a crash like that, not sure of location but it WAS rider vs fence, = 1 dead ex-rider.

F/FI spent 6 hours at the scene last night - absolutely horrific. Looks like he hit the rear of one truck, came off and landed in the right hand lane and was run over by a B Train (Truck and Trailer unit).

Please be careful out there guys - I hate picking people up off the road!

onya bikey. that's one scene i don't really miss. i found fatal scenes very surreal - lots of flashing lights, people doing their jobs, dead guys and gals lying there waiting to be taken to the morgue.

then suddenly the bodies are picked up, taken away, the cars/bikes/trucks are towed, and the road is open again, and all those driving through are oblivious to the carnage that preceeded them.

Yeah not pleasant work Bykey Cop ,I guess you can't comment, but I hope its not the same spot that the local Volly fire servcie went to a diesel spill a couple of hours before.

F/FI don't know where that spot is that you are talking about but don't think that was an issue here. Without wanting to sound too disrespectful, (the poor guy is dead), it looks like a bit of "dick" factor (speed, lane splitting) helped cause this one.

Just heard tonight that the guy is the son-in-law of a friend. He is still in a coma in the Auckland ICU. Worst bit is he was clipped by a ute on way home from work, en route to see his wife in another hospital with pregnancy problems. :(
