View Full Version : OMG I Passed

I did it! :gob:
Here I was lying in bed this morning feeling sick and sorry for myself. Then I get a phone call telling me to get my arse out of bed and get my gear on because I was doing my Basic Handling Skills Test in 1/2 an hour. I tried using all the excuses I could think of (I'm not ready, I cant, I'm too sick). The response I got was "bullshit, your doing it". So being left with no other choice, off I went!

I had an awesome tester, he was very patient and helpful but I thought I didnt do well enough and was disappointed in my riding. After another couple of practices of the emergency braking and a smoke break to calm the nerves, he told me to give it another go and I did and OMG I passed! So at 40 something years old, I have achieved something I never imagined to be possible and on Monday morning I will be a licenced motorcycle rider. :scooter: Awesome :done:

I got mine today too! Fairly accidentally.
I only went down to watch, see what was done and how so I would know when I was ready. There were four women sitting it and it looked pretty easy.

So I asked if I could sit it, borrowed a helmet and rode a scooter for the first time ever!
I felt like I was going stupidly slow and wobbly, but apparently (according to one of the other sitters) looked smooth and confident. I wouldn't say it was hard so much as challenging (in a good way).

I bought my GN a month ago and have only ridden four or so timesaround a carpark.

Need to start practising for the theory test now! (haven't got a car license so need to learn the road rules....)

Good on ya for passing while physically compromised!

Thanks for the link!
I sat my test with a guy that works out of Henderson Motorcycles. He turned out to be the AA Instructor that taught both my daughter and son to drive.

Congratulations to all that passed today or passed very recently.
Well done.

See we all told you, it was easy as to pass.

See you out on the roads.......

But dont forget to practise and practise all the basic stuff....

Those in the Auckland area, pop along to the Wednesday Night Mentor nights... See "Meetings and Events" section for the thread.

I have never ventured onto the road so that is my next challenge. I was really dreading it but after passing today, I am really looking forward to it. I will definitely join in on the AWMR once I get comfortable riding on the road.

I know that my teacher/mentor, "The Stranger", is not going to let me back down now. So big thanks Noel  , without your patience and encouragement, I would never have attempted to learn to ride and I certainly would never have got to this point.

Would indeed be a sad day if anyone doing their BHS didnt pass....
The whole 'Getting your Bike license' thing is very easy when you get to our age its just a pity we have to go through it like 16 year old. They seem to treat us with a little more respect? cos of our lenghty (25 plus yrs) road user skills i guess.
