I looked at this site a while ago. They didnt use to accept international orders for credit fraud reasons. Then the other month i looked again and they now do international! yay(a bit late for me). From the looks of it they are good, but you will probably find that there aren't too many people who have used them here.

Some of those clearance prices are absolutely insane! especially with the exchange rate the way it is at the moment.

And with the dollar at .74, even more reason to buy from the US. They have stock too.

Is buying over the net via credit card recommended?

Nope. Use cash instead. Open your CD Drive, put in cash and close it. Then they get the money.

Seriously, it's fine as long as the web address starts "https" (secure site).

I'm sure any IT techies around here will flame this if it's incorrect.

almost...

Any joker can setup a site starting with https.

If it doesn't popup saying 'this certificate is invalid blah blah' then your generally pretty safe.. YMMV.. IANAL

The certificate only guarantees that the site actually belongs to the people they claim to be. However, it doesn't stop the people being frauds and then running off with your money.

However, it's very unlikely. Just go for it.

I have bought a number of bike items from the USA, two Sunblockers, three pairs of Held gloves (you need to get the size right), crash bungs, PowerComander, etc. Usually I choose a supplier that advertises in the US bike mags, or get links from Internet biking related sites.

So far, touch wood, no problem. Actually your card details can be at greater risk in a local restaurant than on the 'Net.

I'm looking for a particular Shift jacket for the lady and I was having trouble finding many sites in the States which would ship to NZ. Can someone please name a couple of sites that will ship to New Zealand. Cheers.

Apart from the risks of internet purchasing be aware that import charges, duty, GST may be payable. There are also tax free value minimums!

Check out the details here http://www.customs.govt.nz/nr/rdonlyres/41e43da7-b5bb-4412-a711-0ee7879b306e/0/factsheet28.pdf

And having the seller claim the goods are worth less than the purchase price is not a good idea. The guys and girls at Customs are pretty switched on and have seen it all before.

I've purchased plenty via Ebay and haven't been taxed but have lost money on wayward shipments not arriving. Best of luck on your dealings

Mrs KD got her Shift Jacket here (http://www.motostrano-store.com/shleja.html) as it was not available in NZ. Great service, great price.

Over the years, I've bought heaps of fishing gear with no problems. Sometimes the shipping costs are high as they charge 20% for surface postage. So, if it's a small, costly item, like a game reel, the shipping can be overly high.
If you know someone in the States who you can have it delivered to then get them to re-label it, post it to NZ, then this can save a heap!
Never been asked to pay duty.

I order airsoft guns from overseas all the time. Technically, there is GST on anything you import BUT most often they don't ask you to pay GST unless the valued worth of the contents of the package is worth $400 NZD or more. Then they ask you to pay before delivery. In some cases you wont even get a letter or phone call asking you to pay. It just won't arrive and you'll be thinking "WTF?" and make some phone calls and THEN discover they want money.

As for payment, I like to use Paypal. I reckon its safer then directly using a credit card.

Really? I just added a few items to cart and while checking out the only two countries in the drop down list for shipping were USA and Canda.

I've just ordered some bits from Kneedraggers, they do postage to NZ, so you can calculate shipping easy as. Stuff hasn't arrived yet, so can't comment on service as yet. But the gear I got from Motostrano arrived within 2-3 days of being posted and I could track it all the way through UPS, awesome!

i bought some gear off him :) was great, shipping was quite expensive but overall prices were cheaper than buying in NZ ... HUGE SELECTION as well!

Good thing about ebay is you can offer him what you want to pay, if he accepts then its deal! :) its great!

I've changed my mind about this company, they have done nothing but stuff me about, took my money and then informed me of their policy with first time buyers and paypal transactions over $500, then proceeded to tell me they were offended when I told them I thought their customer service was bad. Ummm I think I'm entitled to my opinion!! So they are refunding me my money, probably less paypal fees and exchange rate differences etc, fuckers, they have lost my custom as I will not be dealing with them!!:done:

What is their policy? Not to let you buy even though they already have your money? crazy

LOL, pretty much! I'm very interested to see just how much they refund me to compare to how much I made the payment for!!

You're actually safer paying by credit card. Visa & MasterCard scheme rules give card holders the ability to dispute transactions for a variety of reasons, including non-receipt of goods or fraudulent use, key thing is to dispute the transaction earlier rather than later...I think you've got around 60 days to dispute..
With Paypal, you have very few rights of dispute...you're basically up shit creek without a paddle.
