View Full Version : American Chopper downunder - where do I start?

Well.......

American Chopper - a contender for the ultimate in junk (or is it lowest common denominator) television.

Paul Holmes' interviewing of American Chopper (apparently this week sometime) - a continuation (or is it acceleration?) of his fall from grace.

The ad promoting the programme - where Holmes asks the son if he likes his dad. Shit no - but I guess the fact they together rake in millions in television rights being bitchy to each other while they assemble bikes (being charitable to what they produce) helps a bit.

Thats a bit harsh - how many other programmes on TV even feature a motorbike? Its one of the few programmes on TV I like.

I like the bikes, gag on the apple pie and spend enough time arguing with my own son to not want to watch any other goober do it for entertainment.

I hate reality TV, but quite like the series. Love the bikes even though a sprotsbike rider.

Seen it, it's not too bad. Only half an hour so not long enough for Paul to really annoy me.....

They reckon they did a lot more assembling earlier on, but now do more of their own machining etc.

I quite like the show, and this Holmes show was not too bad. There are worse ways to spend a half hour!

Stuck between a rock and a hard place; I like SOME of their bikes, I hate the 'soapie' shite and paul H is a demented dwarf but you have to get over that to see some cool machinery. Personally I'd rather see Minnie Me host the show. Or Toni Marsh, naked.

It's a $hit show. It's like watching Scooby Doo...only Scooby Doo has more variety.

Pauly senior :- We've got to make a bike for CHARITY/BIKE SHOW in a very short space of time

Pauly junior :- Blah blah. We'll never have it done on time.

Pauly junior :- I've got another fabulous chopperified raked out Harley design.

Vinny :- Cool, awesome, etc etc.

Mikey :- I'm gonna clown around the garage.

Pauly junior :- Blah blah. We'll never have it done on time.

Pauly senior :- Rant rave, the garage is a mess.

Pauly junior :- Whine bitch, it aint my fault

Mkey :- I'm gonna sweep up and take out the trash

Vinny :- OMG, Bolt on accessory X isn't compatible with bolt on accessory Y. The bike won't start, etc etc.

Pauly junior :- Let's work double time overnight etc etc on this it's gonna be close.

Vinny :- The bike's running with 5 minutes to spare.

Pauly senior :- I'm really proud of the guys. The Bike's awesome

Pualy junior :- Woo, thank gawd etc etc. BOLT ON PART X plug has just arrived in the nick of time from PLUG.

Those pesky kids.

I enjoy American Chopper for the most part because think it's hard case program, either you like it or you don't, but thats life in general eh? Personally if you want to see (for the most part) more interesting bike of this genere being built watch "Biker build off"

$630 Million US in 2006 to be precise. Ah, the American dream.

NZ Chopper. Now that would be a joke.

I cant believe tossers here are complaining of all the bitching and drivvel from the OCC and then contradicting themselves by adding a thread bitching about it on this forum....fucking plebs.

I watch OCC all the time, but through long practice on KB, I sift through the shit to see the great engineering work the guys put out

Shame you don't practice what you are preach.

I do, were you at the sermon?

Difference is, although I note the petty whines I dont take time to whine about it myself generally...unless in whining I can enjoy the particular irony this involves.

Shouldnt you be off arguing somewhere (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3HaRFBSq9k)

Nought....I dare say a similar amount of theoretical contemplation would be required to answer that as would be the meaning of life....but he is a funny c@nt

I enjoyed the series - some bits a tad boring but generally light entertainment on those wet winter days. I liked the bikes. Got me off a GSXR and onto an M109R.

They must be due for a new series... although I am sure they would like to go swimming in their money-bin by now and retire.

NZ Chopper. Now that would be a joke.

I was saying to Miss Mully tonight that the LT(S)A would never let any of these bikes on the road over her.

No Indicators, Dangerous Fittings etc.

its all about world biker build off, the show is heaps better, real dudes building one off bikers that they want to build.

the stuff on american chopper is so commercial its a tad boring nowadays, although i still watch it.

While you are correct, I meant that a NZ version of American Chopper would be a joke. At best you'd have 2 inbread brothers converting a GN250 into a chopper like piece of shit with a Sony hand held camera in a garage in Gore... not that there's anything wrong with Gore.

I concur (thank you, "Increase your word power"). It was more of an observation on the American Chopper bikes than any assumption we could do it here withuot it being a joke.

Bollox! UPS delivers to NZ, so you could build the exact same bikes as OCC, without a parts catalogue they'd be screwed. It's glorified meccano, not "custom" bike building.

I enjoy the show, but you have to take it with a grain of salt,my wife hates it & will leave the room when its on.
The rumour I had heard was that the American Chopper crew were in NZ to film building a bike at Hutt Boyz Choppers in Lower Hutt & that was from Brendan Hodge who owns the place,we will wait & see??

They could maybe do a "Mongrel Mob" themed bike...now that'd would be one episode I'd watch....

Vinny :- OMG, For once, Bolt on accessory X is compatible with bolt on accessory Y. Unfortunately we relied on Fastaways to courier the parts.

Pauly junior :- Let's work double time overnight etc etc and engineer something ourselves, it's gonna be close.

Mkey :- No, I'm gonna run away before the Mongrel Mob come and shoot me.

Vinny :- The bike's running with 5 minutes to spare.

Pauly senior :- I'm really proud of the guys...woof woof, seig heil
