I don't know 100% if this is true.
I've been told theres going to be a lil er "grudge " race being held at the
V8 racing at Pukekohe this weekend.
It seems a Certain fairly fast bike racer on a gixxr thou is going head to head racing an auzzie V8.
Given how darn close to the outright lap record he and 2 auzzie guys on production superbikes got --The race will be --er very interesting.

They givin' the car a head start.

They better after the TT meeting....!

Though my understanding is that the V8's are a way off the lap record

I cant see the V8 boys wanting to do that!!
Who will ride the bike "Stroudy"??
I remember a few years ago they had a combined NZ V8 & bikes, when the Formula Extreme bikes where there,Kevin Curtain & a few others came over,I laughed like fuck, because the bikes were faster in the wet, than the NZV8s were in the dry,I do realise NZV8s are a different kettle of fish, but was still funny

Just to add on the rumour mill frosty i've been told by a friend not confirmed but i think it'll happen that andrew is riding a turbd thou gsxr thar he's been on before and is fitting his suspension off his current superbike and racing a A1 gp car for who's got the outright fastest lap and they re looking at 54 sec don't no if it's a A1 car or a V8 but word was a A1 car and i don't think they'll be beginning at the same time prob rolling start and half a track apart

Brad--funny thing is I heard the same thing -except its actually a full brake/suspension/cosmetic swap out--er in other words itll look like the bike he usually races

What's the current V8 lap record? Bugden got 56.6 at the Nats, didn't he? I thought that the V8's were in the 58's. Would be cool to see how the bike annihilates the car down the back straight.

A bike vs. A1 car though? I reckon the A1 car would mince it. I'd be surprised if the turbo GSXR is quicker than the standard Stroud-spec one, even around Puke. (EDIT: Hope I'm wrong)

Stroud would kick arse :)

He throws the K7 around at a fair rate of knots...

Sounds like fantasy to me. No A1GP cars are allowed to be run unless it is a sanctioned event by the A1GP people. They also can't run the cars without a team of engineers from Zytek (the engine builders) on hand.

OK OK, eveeryone calm down. I have been through the minute by minute with a fine tooth comb. And have the official word right here.

At 1405hrs on Sunday 22nd April, there will be a "Shoot Out" between a "Superbike" and Toyota series open wheeler. It mentions nothing of the method. See you there.

i think you should put that the other way round, looking at the times from the last meeting there i'd say the toyota would be able 2 secs a lap faster.

Gidday,
The bike is Blair's K4 GSX-R Turbo, word from the horses mouth is that Stroudys W.P front end, shock & brakes from his old K5 race bike have been fitted - the bike will be running in road trim, it's not going on the "race bike" diet due to time constraints, its away getting the required sponsors treatment as we speak... :Punk:

As for what it's going to be running against - that remains to be seen, there was mention of an A-1 car, but I cant see the powers that be allowing that to happen

Whatever it is, it would want to be pretty bloody quick, having ridden "The Turbo" on several occasions I can tell you that thing would probably have to be the fastest road registered bike in the country... It's the only bike I've ridden that makes my ZX 12 feel like an absolute :scooter:

The only thing that troubles me is exactly how much of the 250 odd horsepower Stroudys going to be able to make use of - if any of you saw him run the thing round Puke last time you'll understand, having said that, he's the top man for the job...

Still, one things for sure - it'll make for some mighty interesting veiwing  & who knows, with the estimated 80 odd thousand potential veiwers, TV & track side, he (Blair) might actually find a buyer for the old girl...

Cheers

anyone got some factual lap times for Andrew's best time at Puke vs top driver in toyota series?

Toast
19th April 2007, 17:59
Stroud's best at Nats was 56.8.

The Toyotas are low 55's (http://www.mylaps.com/results/newResults.jsp?id=480376)

They brake at 5G's or something ridiculous like that.

As I said above, I doubt that the Toyota will be quicker than Stroud's usual mount. The bike will get beaten, but who cares.

Is this the same Andrew Stroud who complained about no crash padding at Pukekohe in private testing last year. There will be no safety gear at all for this one as the cars do not allow ANY impact absorbing material to be against Armco/Concrete walls etc. Interesting??

Ivan

THe thing is its a car meeting,

THey will make it so that the bike will get beaten of course

How bad would it look for the car nuts.

GO Stroudy tho

And Turbo gixxer sounds tooooo scary for me to watch imagine the black marks itl leave itl be like Nicky Hayden on the moto GP bike slideways

Stroudie has the talent of the Rossi's and the Haydens. He just didnt get/take the breaks that came his way. He is one very talented bike racer, and I hope like hell he does well, but there will not be ANY of the crash padding in place. Not a problem for the Toyota driver, he has a cage around him, Stroudie does not. Great concept, but do it at a track that is Motorcycle Friendly. Pukekohe is a risk, even with the Auckland Clubs best efforts with impact bales. Good luck Stroudie.

Gidday,
Word round the traps is that Stroudys brother Ben will be piloting the Toyata Series car...

Sibling rivalry at it's finest :dodge:

I raced a car once. A DX corrolla with twin carbs!!

I could beat him on the straights but he was faster in the corners, I think he had racing tyres on it.

Here yall are. Yup, Stroudy was on his K6. Was running 58s and the car was running 56s... Both have been 2 seconds a lap quicker, but hey, 2 warm up laps and go... Not that bad at all!!

Loved the day, was awesome!!

Go Brother!

Good fodder for the V8 Punters, but I think not a good match - the Prod Superbike would have been better compared against one of the V8's on the basis of both being derived from a street vehicle....

2 seconds for Stroudy just in not having any crash padding I'd say....
