Just curious as to what others do to rid themselves of frustration, stress, bad thoughts or any other emotions that threaten your calm, happy exterior. I know of the usual, drinking til the pain dulls, smoking to "clear" your head, looking for fights crap, but what else do you do.
As the type of person you are, what do you do to get yourself into a clear frame of mind after the last person you dealt with left you with a feeling of disembowling them, self doubt or any other unhealthy emotion?
I guess considering I asked, I better go first aye. Well, I tend to turn up my music loud and read a book. Failing that, I take the Ipod, turn the volume up till it hurts and go for a walk, run or bike ride. I used to beat the shit out of a punching bag in the garage, but the person who I was borrowing it off took it back. As a small child I used to burn stuff with the magnifiing glass.
Apparently getting out the guns and cleaning them whilst muttering under your breath is not a good way to deal with stress.
So, have at it....

I'm too old to care any more. Besides I've got children so I've learnt to be VERY patient.
Children are very good for taming the rage in us, also time does cure a lot of ills but for me it depends on the time of day, the problem and the person who pissed me off. In the evening I can pour a Jim and sit out on the deck, take a deep breath and ask 'how important is this?' then have another shot at sorting it without flying off the handle. At work I have to contend with deep breaths. I rarely argue with my two teenage daughters, almost never argue with my lady, and never sleep on anything; get it sorted first, however long it takes.
I never hold a grudge: I hunt wankers down, get even and then forget it.

The only people whom i find piss me off enough are the ones i love the most,
And my usual way of dealing with it is to get domestic(not domestic violence),
If you see me doing the dishes or see my house looking sparkling and clean you can pretty much guarantee that ive been pissed off. Its a real good way to deal with it but i sometimes wonder if the lovely wife purposely pisses me off now and then just to get the house tidied.
Tempted to go riding when pissed off but not really the mind set id like to ride with.

I find that lifting at the gym or climbing a FOAD big hill on the road bike is about the best instant boost possible when dealing with problems.
It's also worth sitting back and thinking about what one can do, medium and long term, to remove causes of negative stress. Try not to let life fall into a rut.
In terms of psychoactive chemicals, if your stress is not caused by serious issues that need addressing but is more due to the headspace that you happen to be in, putting your feet up and getting stoned works wonders for smoothing out the week ahead. Booze, however, never helped anyone or anything. In my experience, it's best to stay well away from alcohol when unhappy.

I always apply "How important is it?" takes alot for me to get really pissed off but one thing that will do it and it has happened twice in the last 4 years is dealing with absolute idiots. The first one was some guys helping me shift - things were clearly labelled to where they were to be put - so why did the dishwasher end up in the garage?? Shifting is never pleasant and I completely nutted off "Where do you do your dishes? .. in the kitchen.. then why the fuck is my dishwasher in the fn garage - ....and proceeded to list the other mistakes.
Next was in an email to my ex cos he never had the balls to face me and still hasn't. That was very calm and factual though - thought that one thru carefully and waited until I accepted he was really as spineless, stupid, and a first class c..t that he said he was!
Otherwise very little phases me - it used to but realised what a waste of emotion it is. Meditation, riding, reading, listening to music, the sea, nature - all very soothing.

im looking at getting into kite surfing, also paragliding and hanggliding tickle my fancy... then there is blokarting, or just straight sailing. There is actually a lot of things you can do for 'free' after laying out a base setup cost, all you need is the wind and some free space and you are away laughing.
If you are shit at golf then i suggest staying away from the driving range, also if you are bad at pool then dont go and play your mates when you've had a shit day, it will only get worse!

Taking my lab pup for a walk works sometimes, when its a little darker she will chase a laser pointer for miles. Theres alot of happyness from watching your pup run around like a mad thing with other dogs.

Play trumpet until I've run out of Miles Davis transcriptions to play. Then I move onto Coltrane. If I'm really upset I'll try playing some Charlie Parker. Key word being `try'.
I write, too, although I seem to be doing it less and less these days. When I was at school, at least people would end up playing what I wrote, but now it just stays on paper. Plus, the more weird music I'm exposed to at uni (well, I Sibelius' modern-er period isn't that weird) the more nobody can make any sense of what I write which stresses me out even more.
Riding, of course... but I'm still at the stage where I can have quite a few heart-pounding scary moments on a ride without anyone else involved, so that doesn't always help.

6. Call a good mate, have a few beers and talk about it
Many more but these are my main stress/anger releifs. They work for me :)

Such as one time last year when I found out this girl left me, the first thing I did was get up, change into my cycling kit, hop on my bike, and start cycling.
Felt sweet after that, even just the act of changing into my cycling gear was already cheering up myself by that point.
Heh, actually I did that at least twice last year with breaking off from girls. With another girl I went for a bike ride straight after what I felt (at the time) might be my last ever time seeing her.
So yeah, cycling is the cure for everything! If only you could bottle that stuff up, you would find it is the cure for cancer!
