Ok, so I've got a budget of around 8k, and I'd like a CR250, but it's prooving very hard to find one good in the auckland area. I'd like to not spend all teh 8k on a bike and spend some on set up and parts. want 2 stroke alread expalained this...

I'm not so keen for another Suzi so I'd like to leave that brand alone

Kawa, don't know really, Scott said he could hook me up with a mean 06 KX250

Yami - starting to look at YZ's. Heard some good reports on their performance and engine strength.

Honda - well the thing that gets me a bit now is that they were the bikes in teh day adn for a long time, but honda just don't give a shit about 2 strokes no more and haven't for since 2002.... mind you if it aint broken.....

Anyway has anyone got a bike that they aer selling or have a mate that is?

Sorry to start a new thread but the old one was getting spammed up.

Cheese, don't let your experience with the older RM put you off Suzuki. The 05-07 RM's have been real good and have been number one in many tests or number 2 to the Yamaha in some tests in 07. They are very cheap brand new and it might be worth stretching your budget. They should be going even cheaper now and you should be able to get one for about $9000.00 or perhaps a little less.
I love my 05, and last I was talking to Chop he was considering a new bike, so perhaps he might be selling his 07 RM.

I've seen bugge all RM's about, and considering that they were $8500 last year the prices are dam high!! people are still asking $8500 - 9k!! dreaming!

Seen this YZ http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=95490128 and tempted to have a look. Pity the blue is so god dam ugly.

In terms of engine strength, what is your guys thoughts? Power isn't so important as I'm sure all the brands will have me shitting my pants.

The KX scott has looks like a good deal, I've seen alot the KX's about for cheap too. I'd like to not spent all my budget on a bike though as I really want to get teh suspension set up correctly for me and allow for a rebuild.

I found this CR I'm hopefully going to look at tonight http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=96398171

I've just been through the Waikato bike shops,no 250 2 strokes, although Boyds have a couple of CR450f's at around $8500.Huntly Honda are expecting a very well maintained '94 CR in as a trade in soon, but that's 10 years too old for you.

Cheers Motu, that CR is olded than my old RM!! LOL

I've been searching too and I've found a 07 KX250 with loads of goodies for $6800. It sounds too good to be true so I'll have to see it. It's even from a shop. Its their sponsored riders bike.
