I had hoped to spend the year refining my wheelies just so I could pull some for the boys yesterday. What with one thing and another, the practice never really happened (mainly due to an injury mid year) so I wasn't going to go out in the stunt session yesterday knowing that my efforts would be dodgy at worst and minimal at best.
After a bit of pressure (mainly from myself coz I'd said at the beginning of this thread I would) I went out anyway. Stoked I did, glad I could at least get the wheel off the ground for the boys, would have done the rest of the sessions if we had stayed.
Great to catch up with everyone. Dale - you're awesome!

Lucky it was a fun day. Riding in pit lane without a helmet more than 6 times after warnings would've been an instant go home at any other track day.

Great to see you out there representing on one wheel for the biker babes, Jill. Respect!

Pity you couldn't hang about and dish out that learn you've been promising me for years, but I'll take a raincheck for next time...

A huge thank you from all our family and Dales for everyones participation in making this day (which could have been one of the worst in our lives) turn into such an amazing awesome day. With out you all this day could not have happened.
Allan (Kiwifruit) and team what can we say, without your tireless help, endless emails, ideas, etc this day could not have happened, we are indebted to you all for ever. You are all amazing people.
For the boys families this day was absolutely magical and it really made us proud to see so many genuine people turn up to honour these two amazing guys. Your stunts were etc were fantastic to watch and for me personally made me feel very close to Bruce. The boys were there in spirit helping and pushing you all along and we are so happy to read so many posting personal achievemts made yesterday.
Glad everyone enjoyed the non motor biking events and Pizza for lunch as well. The day couldn't have gone any better for us.
Bruces son Hunter had an awesome day and thanks to those who let him and his cousins play with their tools and bike ramps. Hopefully there weren't too many mixed up for you to sort out at the end of the day.
On a more personal note, Bruces family and some very close friends ventured out to "Daryls" corner after the day had finished and have now sprinkled some of Bruces ashes there with Daryl. Please give the boys a quick salute whenever you are at the Track.
Keep up the good work on the track, and give it your all....
Cheers from all the boys families. - You all deserve one of these :first:

kiwifruit described the location for me later on Sunday evening, and I'm pleased to say that I made my first ever pass on a racetrack yesterday around the outside of that corner.
I'll be sure to spare a thought and a smile for the boys every time I tip in there in the future.

Yeah I hang onto the lever for a long time into there. The back wheel's hardly even on the ground. That being said, I don't think I've got enough sag in the rear shock either.

All bullshit aside, masive thanks to both Peggy and Steve Mathie and Dale. Also Alan and Shane for their awesome effort. I believe MotoTT had a hand in there too so they deserve our support. Poos did not a bad job on the mic either.

I had pictured the day in my head for the past few months and when i turned up on the last stunt session before lunch made my way track side and watched the stunt action and could not help get a tad emotional and shed a couple of tears of joy and pride that the day surpassed my expectations the boys would have loved it. Seeing the kids having a great day made it even more special.
watching you great riders out on the made me so jealous that i don't have have a bike YET and it made me more determined to save save save to get the bike so i can join ya out on the track and learn how to wheelie as cool as WT and others
Dale is was good to see you again and its so cool to see you out on the track your boy would have been proud and the poem/letter was beautiful i'll keep in touch with you.
Last but by no means lest Peggy, Steve and Jenie over the past 12 months you have become family to me and was so happy to be apart of the day and it was really great to see you all again and look forward to catching up in a few weeks. Take it easy and you always have my endless support and love

I wondered if the lovely gentlemen who approached us very early on in the day with the red T Shirt that had the loosebruce wheelie on it could PM me details of how we can get hold of some of these Tee's. I know you told us at the time but so much went on I have now forgotten.

Yeah what a GREAT day, started of shit on friday night after the trailor we hired was shit house; unpacked teh car and packed a ruck sack and left saturday at 5:30.
had fun belting around teh short track with Dodgy matt and logan.. and i do believe Kiwfruit gave us the learn!
had a wicked night.. a bbq and some beers then up early for an action packed day! Well done to all invloved.. perfect !!
Frenchy kindly showed me how the old girl wheelied.... "in C mode no less" for which I lost a box of beers!!! he also showed me how she liked to be high chaired, rolling burn outs and wheelies with a neutral engine..!!!
so then Korn had a spin on her as did Mr Jay Lawrence. Backin it in, fish tailing her... then it all seemed to go wrong. I shat my pants to see Jay fishtailing out of every corner and in the sweeper i was sure he'd gotten so close to a high side.. yeah his feet came of the pegs.. i got MT to black flag him.
it so happens that Jay is accustomed to such behaviour and when the bike, in road trim, spins up and steps out.. apparantly the talented amongst us let the feet of the pegs to let it settle... !!! go figure.
We were given an awesome show!!
Some good memories, some good conversations, some awesome belly laughs, a tear or two when it went quiet and i finally learnt how to wheelie!!!!! Logan started to back the 750 in..!!! he just needs to learn to wheelie now !!! http://sportsbike.co.nz/forums/images/smilies/redface.gif

Hi there everyone. Greetings from the Gold Coast from one very proud mother who still hasn't managed to get the smile off her face. Yeah, I know, I am not the styliest rider on your track, BUT I am certainly the happiest. Thankyou to all the riders who showed their patience with my lack of experience with riding ?lines?. And also thanks to those of you who scared the crap out of me as you whizzed past. (didn't realise how much I relied on those wing mirrors....) The bowels probably needed a good clean out after Saturday nights escapades.......
It sounds very much like you all had fun on the day, and that was what it was all about. We all agree that if Daryl and Bruce were still with us, odds on that they would have been on a track somewhere having a blast. So this was the best way to be involved in something that was memorable to them, not us. I hope they enjoyed looking in on what we were all up to.
Thankyou Peg and Steve for all your organising, Cowpoos for the endless supply of bullshit and the like, Shane for explaining the meaning of the different coloured flags, ambo blokes for not being required cos everyone was soooo sensible and didn't hurt themselves, mother nature for putting on such awesome weather (couldn't believe I arrived back here sunburnt - not fair!) and also all the others who helped in various ways.
BUT........most of all I need to thank a most generous and caring person for her help. NICKI - YOU ARE ONE IN A MILLION.......Words will never be enough to thankyou for letting me ride your bike. Was a big risk you took given that I haven't been riding for that long. And what a delight it was to see your face when I was still behind you when you thought you'd left me behind ages ago! I hope I didn't damage anything on Tweetie. When I grow up I want to be able to ride just like you.......keep watching out, I might just pop up on the Qld Race track one day.
Anyway thanks everyone for making the whole time enjoyable, and for also being such a wonderful family of surrogate brothers and sisters to a special lost only child.
Regards, Dale Smith

Dale,
what can I say....
It was an honour to have you ride Tweety... I had total faith in your abilities and knew that Tweety would look after you.. that and you have an angel on the back when ever you ride...
I am so proud of you chick! you improved out of sight throughout the day... your lines when i followed you were fantastic and your riding was very smooth and consistant.... (and Tweety is fine... you looked after her well, thank you!)
big hugs to you Dale.. your an amazing woman.... the permanent smile on your face said it all to me... i'm just so happy i could help and be a part of the day to make it as special and memorable as it was, for you and everyone involved. I cannot thank you enough for your support and encouragement and words of wisdom, I couldnt have done it without you either, my memory of the day wil be held close to my hear for sure!
Cant wait for our next track day together be it in Auzzie or out here :niceone:
Thank you Dale for being the awesome chick that you are, I know you are a proud mum, but I bet Daryl is a very proud son too! I can just see him elbowing Bruce saying, thats my mum on the track! now go hard on your R6!

on a personal note.
thank you Allan, Poos and MT for pulling off an awesome day at such short notice....
It was awesome to see those who loved the boys having a blast.... thank you to Mum, Tristan and Paula for being there for me (even when totally stressed out). Marshalls, thank you for your tireless watchful eyes... and the ambo dudes...
Thanks to all of you for your support on the day.... we have all been touched by Bruce and Daryl in so many ways... I know I'm blessed to have known them both and my life is so much richer for it.
My last thank you goes to Bruce. Thank you hun for being there for me... Lil Gix felt effortless to ride and i had the biggest grin out on that track, love you

Some of you well most may have noticed...my zxr wasnt sounding to healthy when i came into the pits and pulled it to bits trying to figure out what the heck was going on....
well got her home last night...
and spent all of today pulling the engine out and stripping it down.....
my lovely friend cylinder number 3 decided it could go faster if it dissintegrated it's big end bearings.
luckily i have all the spares ...bar the bolts to clamp it on,well i have them but the service manual says you cannot re use them as they stretch when installed.....$17.50 per bolt and nut and i need 2 so not too bad. so those are on order should have them in the next couple of days.
always pays to have the ufll workshop service manual with part numbers !
well i'm glad all the valves etc are ok....
and the conrod hadnt ripped off the crank was just wiggly on it. i don't know why it happened i suspect it was my wayyyy too early downshift off the back straight...bounced off limiter...... started knocking and i pulled into pits next corner...
was told she should be ok if i nurse it home and well as alot of you saw (thanks to all who checked i was gunna be ok) i got about 3k's out of taupo and it kept getting worse, i knew she would never make it to auckland like that , andi was just doing more harm than good.
so a big thankyou to sanx.....for bringing my bike back and gixser for storing it at his place for me.
got pillioned back on big dog's hayabua...wow...what a machine droooly
in saying that tristan decided i needed cheering up on monday as i was worried about my bike as i did not have it home and was fearing major damage...when he handed me the key to his rather worked 06 zx10r...how can a boy say no!
he didn't have to tell me twice!
i really need a zx10r ive decided...
in saying that a 600 is on the menu first.
but wow his one without secondarys and all the other goodies.....compared to his previous stock zx10r's holy crap it makes a stock zx10r feel like a blimin 600!
still grinning...
i havnt slept since tuesday...now that everything is under control with the zxr i think i can get some shut eye tonight.
and thus the weekend that was lol
