Parked this morning, in the last available spot I was comfortable squeezing into, in the front row.

I noticed that it would be kind of hard to get bikes out from the back row - a couple blocked by me, but many others blocked by other bikes in the front row.

Does this seem to cause a problem in practice? Or are there usually enough gaps in the front row to get out? Part of the issue seems to be that people parking at the front seem to follow the blue line (no idea what it's there for) rather than the white one further forward, which would allow a bit of a gap between the two rows. Would it help to have a chat to the council and get more clear markings?

What do you do if your bike is parked in? Wait? Move other bikes? Manhandle your bike over the footpath?

I have often wondered how that park worked with two rows.

ive never been blocked in, actually. so not sure how id get out of it!! its actually this that makes me park to the front of parks where possible.
the ones here in the main street are literally a car park with a bike sign attached. so, two rows can fit easily. with those, ill always park to the front, with the front tyre in line with the back of neighbouring cars.
usually only scooters that park in those, and theyre small enough to fit past me.

I've seen a bike get backed up onto the footpath to get out.

I've been blocked in once by a scooter that parked too close to me so I couldn't start my bike (she's a kick start) so I carefully moved the scooter over.

Riding up on the footpath would be okay I reckon - look out for pedestrians though because they tend not to get out your way even when you're manoeuvring to get into a park on the road there.

I don't think the council would consider putting lines for bikes because (as I discovered on phoning them) that particular car park can be used by cages too.

Hitcher could find out easy what that blue line is for...
Does it mark the original line of the waterfront or something?

Yep, all those lines there are confusing. You could fit three lines of bikes in there if you parked right up to that white line.
I have never had trouble getting out from the back row, there's always been space.
