Well, it had to happen.
I've lost my virginity thanks to Brian. Put the WR in off road trim last weekend ready for going out to Ardmore yesterday afternoon for my first time playing in the dirt.
He's busy telling me that it is a lot more physical and how hard you are working off road etc etc. I'm thinking yeah yeah, harden up ya poof. Fark, it nearly bloody killed me. Came off twice in the first session, mostly due to exhaustion and retired after about 3 laps. After recovering from the heart attack and near death experience, I realised that I was too tense and not being economical with my energy so went out for another 2 (or was it 3 sessions) relaxed a bit and lasted a lot longer in each, though was also going a bit slower, but didn't bin again either.
After a while they split the field into kids and novice in one group and real riders in another. I figure it wont look so bad if I am out in the first group, so out I go, only to get caned by some little shits. They may have been faster than me, but I consoled myself with the knowledge I could still thump the buggers when I got back to the pits. Well I could have if I could stand up that is.
Kittyhawk came along and got out on the track a couple of times on the GSXR and did well. Didn't bin it. I am sure she has bigger nuts than half of the guys here. Top stuff Kitty. It's ok to post photos and ignore Archer's moans about trimming 30kg off of him in photo shop first.
Ok you hear it a lot but it really is the most fun you can have with your pants on, no shit. Don't think I stopped smiling from the time I got out there first time till we left and it has really made me think about my fitness level - ok I'm over that now, where's my cigarettes?
Seriously guys if you haven't been out on the dirt, it's one thing you should put on your list of things to do before you go.
Thank you ArcherWC and Kittyhawk for your help and support. Much appreciated.
