I know my skills limits: Can anyone recommend an excellent Honda engine mechanic for my project bike - '77 CB550 Super Sport to Cafe Racer. (Auckland Region)
I am thinking a time frame of 8 to 12 weeks for the engine work. It could be a home workshop (preferably) or a MB shop but will consider both options on merits. I want a pro job done.
I intend to remove the engine from the frame and get it fully reconditioned . Simultaneously to engine work I will metal polish and restore covers and panels so need a co operative situation with the mechanic.
Fees and costs to be negotiated/discussed.

hi
can't help you with the mechanic but i'm currently having alu covers professionally polished from a new lynn place that promissed me a lot... so i can let you know about it when i get the parts back, if you're interested at all
i couldn't get a desirable finish/shine myself so went to pro's
also have info on vapour blasting and clearcoating if interested
good luck with your project!
and maybe you could keep us posted with some photos?

I will be very interested in seeing what you achieved and how/where. Thanx.
I had planned to document (with pix) the project so will post up when I start the project in the next couple of weeks. Bike arrives tomorrow.
