I'd be fully keen for this, how much is it to enter?

oh and what kinda poker?

Lula

The Poker Run costs $20 to enter.

I been talking to some of my fellow riders and locally there has been some good interest so far so would be a good opportunity to meet other riders from the Franklin district.

Would be good to see and meet some of the Kiwi Biker site members too.

The kind of poker the ride is based on is where the highest hand is a Royal Flush. At each stop you are given a card (5 in total) and the highest hand wins (last card given at the Kentish Hotel in Waiuku). If two hands are equal then the prize will be split.

There are spot prizes that have been sponsored by the Kentish Hotel, Haldane Motorcycles and Cycle Treads.

The prizegiving is at the Waiuku Kentish Hotel and there is a lock-up area for bikes and accommodation at the pub, but would suggest that you check availability and the phone number is 09 235 8367.

I think there is also a live band in the garden bar that night after prizegiving and the organisers are hoping to have prizegiving around 4ish.

Should be a really fun day hope some of you can make it.

so its not texas hold em?

Lula
24th April 2007, 14:46
Mmmm, don't think so. Basically you get given a card at each stop (first one being issued at the Jolly Farmer).
At each point you are given a card and it is registered so that there is no card swapping.

Highest hand wins which would be ace, king, queen, jack, ten, all in the same suit.

So will we see you there?

Oops! Haven't updated my profile pic lately, don't have the Zed anymore.
The heat in the pipes caused them to tinge towards the golden look (standard Exhausts)

Will be there on a CBR600rr, see ya Sunday.

For those of you who are coming from the North direction and not sure where the Jolly Farmer pub is in Dury here are some instructions.

On the Southern Motorway take the Dury motorway off-ramp (which is the next one after Papakura).

At the motorway off-ramp intersection turn left and go straight through the roundabout. The Jolly Farmer pub is about 100 meters along on your right handside.

There is a garage next door if you need to gas up and bakery if want to grab something to eat before the ride.

See you guys there

I had a great time too, the best moment was when we were in the Orere Point twisties. I was behind a GSX-600, he looked around and then did a HUGE double take as if he couldn't believe that a 250 and pink helmet was behind him. Mind you, we weren't going that fast, there was a herd of harleys ahead of us, average speed must have been about 70km. Rode some lovely country roads. A big thank you to the organisers - I believe the first prize was $1700.00!
