600 will be more than enough. How much 100+ are you? Im 103kg and 600's are fine, aim for a GSXR600 K1-K3 as they are physically bigger bikes than say the R6 which i had. Im 6ft 3, and felt more 'evenly proportioned' on the Gixxer.

In saying that, an SV650 could be up your alley if you dont want to go overboard, decent torque to punch out of corners etc... otherwise any sub 900cc V-twin would be sweet.

Riderskills (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/member.php?u=4283) who has helped out on the odd KB ride, and people on KB have gone through him, have had nothing bad to say about him, seems like a really good guy. Not sure exactly where he is in auckland (nor you).

Out Manukau way, there is John Wright, and I went through him, really top notch bloke too. Cost... shite... can't remember... been too long.

You can also get a combination of things like, BHS, and scratchie for learners etc, or just the BHS, and so on.
