Yeah, I thought he was heading over at the same time as Brendon, obviously not as I saw him at the HAGD last weekend. Currently NZ has two riders in AMA Superbikes, with a possble third to join them.

I know Dom is there, cruising around in the van, but there is an American Dominic Jones who is/was racing. Is this one our one??

Enjoy ;-)

Note that Brendon is riding with a knee the size of a football after a crash last week.

Dom called up today, at California Raceway after Fri practice. Goin OK so hopes to qualify. Struggling a bit with knotty little flip/flop chicanes.
Barber went well last weekend, 22nd and 23rd. Good for the points and cash, so all happy. It was his first time on the 16.5inch wheels so, took a lot of dialling in, hampering his results.
A few travel stories: when traveling further south, they have border patrols, and he gets pulled over quite a bit. Something about being young, scummy old van etc. This time the dogs went nuts. "Have you got dope in there young man?" So they put him in a little room, while they pulled his van to bits. No dope found, but Dom tryin to keep cool in the knowledge the van was used over the winter by people who quite like the stuff. Not a happy prospect if they'd found something....
Then the old father / son stuff. Last year oyster notices he's doin thousands of miles with no spare tyre. Dom says no probs, the rim will cope till the nearest town.. So old fart says, next time we see a dead Chev Astro, we'll get a whell off it, only $10 you know... Lucky for me we did find just that, in a paddock, the last wheel on it. No tread, unless you count the perish cracks, a sealing plug poking out. The price sir? $10 yep, we win sometimes..
This year, on his way to Alabama, he gets a flatty and puts it on. Realises it pretty stuffed, but gets there, then 3000km all the way back to California.
He now thinks he's wrong, it was a good investment. Just to wind me up, he's not gonna fix the original punctured tyre. Why he asks?.......

Its easy for the boy to talk tough when he's on the other side of the world. Still the clip behind the ear will still hurt when you next see him.

So, if no time to fix tyre, I guess he hasn't had a haircut either!!!

Enjoy ;-)
