hey guys, me and a mate have an off roader with a gsx400 twin cylinder motor from 1980-1.

The vehicle sat in his shed for years so when we started thrashing it around the paddock it didnt last very long, we bought another motor that bolted straight in and went great. Until the sump plug fell out while driving(!!!wtf!!!), the motor has pretty much seized.

So we opened up the original motor and it had run a bearing and the starter motor had slipped some magnets, it is generally worn but it could be rebuilt. Anyone know how much it costs to rebuild on of these motors?

But after changing the motor once already, we would like some more power if it can be attained without too much hassle. Is there any bigger motors that would use the same mounting points and/or the same chain location that we could put in instead of another/or rebuilt 400?

Sounds like you're having fun with that one.

Are the two motors the same?

CAn you make one good one out of the two?

I think a KX500 or CR500 motor would be a fun one for it!!! may have to modify engine mounts though.
