Ah, the Burgman -- the sharp handling and character of a Goldwing, with the proven reliability of a Suzuki.

Certainly a young man's conveyance:

Apparently they drink more quickly than a dipsomaniac at a distillery. And the digital display system is possibly a bit over-featured -- one may not particularly care to know the time of the next high tide at Guadalcanal or moon rise at Ulan Bator.

ive got one not an exec but same anyway, good i reckon on long trips im used to sport bikes but found it ideal on long trips, dont know fuel consumption cause i dont worry about it,easily cruises between 100-140kmh,did one non stop trip nelson-whangarei and many tauranga-auck trips, brakes are good without abs and it handles quite well really but not that hot in slow traffic

would be keen to hear your opinion Insane1. Always fancied a bigger scoot but it is sometimes hard to get your hands on one to evaluate it.

2 years ago one of the first bikes back from the Grand Challenge was a 650 burgman....

It was a Burgman 400. And it was first home by a reasonable margin as well, not that the Grand Challenge is a race.

It was impressive none the less.... I agree regarding the race bit by the way, think I was about 3 hours slower than the burgman....

One of the guys a work has brought a suzuki skywave 250 (jap version of the burgman 250 but with a slightly lower seat height for obvious reasons :) ).

Really quite happy with it.

You'll have to give us a full report!

Glad to hear that you are having a good time.

Did you you used to have a 250/400. What did you think of that model.

Possible underpowered now you've got the 650 eh!

Did you get the 650 for a good price? Interested to know if they hold their value

Yes I'm slightly jealous!!

Cheers

Saw the pictures that gijoe1313 took - mighty impressive and looks as new!

Would love to have a closer look at one especially without a salesperson buzzing around. Financially purchasing one in the forseeable future is not on the horizon at present (bugger). But well keep in touch and hopefully we can catch up

Cheers

You have changed since you went "up market"

Good day for a ride today - pity I spent the day flying althought its almost as good as scootering.

BTW now that you have a 6 fiddy do you still call it a "scooter"

Forgot to ask - how many km for $25

insane1
14th July 2007, 18:56
depends on how i control right hand sometimes 250km+ from a tank it"s still a scooter allbeit a big one so when do you want to have a play on it.

That's not too bad, I get around the same from the C50T, but my tank's only 15.5lt, should get about 280km all up. Usually 200 until the light flashes with 5.5lt remaining.

Considering it's an auto with that kind of grunt, I'd be pretty happy with it.

thats not the case your thinking of the 400s probably,i was working as a salesman for suzuki in 2003 when they came out and i think suzuki nz brought only 3 or 4 in because back then they were $17999 and base models only, they couldnt sell those and specialed them down to about 11 or 12 grand from memory then theres the ex demo ones with stuff all kms from usa in 2005 they sold for $10500,good to see you got one insane sorry bout stuffing you around to come and try mine but i was just never home
