I just saw my first meteor! Looking up at the stars, and saw a bright orange flash, then a large fire trail... it split in two, flashed REAL bright then went out - freaky!
I was looking North Westish from Papakura... seen the odd shooting star, but this was far different from anything I have ever seen before... way cool!

The aliens are coming to get me. The rest of you are not worth saving.

For those that are interested the shower will be coming out of the NNE from about about 2.00am and will swing along the horizon Northward until about 6.30am. You will need to get up on some height (hill etc) It’s a bit low on the horizon for us to get the best view.
The eta aqarids on May 6 for those that watch the sky.
