As an interested viewer and part time poster on the forum it's interesting to watch the views and thoughts on the way some things should/could be with regards to road racing in the upper north Island - vis the Auckland Motorcycle Club, the Protecta Series, the TT meeting and Paeroa to name a few.

The team that have been doing it as far as I can tell, have been around a long time and are unpaid volunteers who give their time so the racers can get their jollies. They do it while juggling full time jobs and quite often families and may like a break or just some more help.

What better way to have your say than actually be one of the people who is making it happen. You may also find it an eye opener and better understand as to why sometimes, the things are the way they are. You may also find what it is like to have to deal with the riders, rather than just be one!

Over to everyone, but don't forget: If you are a member, you get the committee you ask for. Ie, no one steps forward, no racing. The riders need to realise that they need to be more actively involved for their own good and you have a big hand in what happens.

The AGM is still a good 7-8 weeks away yet, so here's your chance to have a think about putting your effort where your mouth is. If you have been on the receiving end of all their efforts for the last few years how about putting something back into the sport.

A Club is it's membership, not just the people who sit around the table doing the work for the rest.

PS: I'm not an elected officer of the AMCC nor is this "AMCC " official correspondence!

This seems to be an ongoing issue all around New Zealand. We are having problems with it down south too. Everyone is dead keen to go racing but no one wants to help organise or run the meetings, and it ends up being the same people to do all the work. Volunteers for the likes of flag marshalling seem to be hard to find at the moment

Would riders pay $50-100 more each per meeting to attend professionally run meetings instead? What say you?

Enjoy ;-)
