Hey Guys,

Does anyone know what the Christchurch BEARS winter series dates are for this year? I'm just wondering if I should think about dusting off the old GSX and get it ready for some pre'82 action?

Cheers

So the buckets will run on the Back small part of the track?

What weather do you have planned?

Buckets are the biggest class on the day, so we bring in good money for them and a lot of bucket guys also run either BEARS or Pre 82 as well

The first meeting is normally the tri oval on the front circuit, turn off in front of the control tower and around through the dipper,it suits the fast bikes

no idea on the weather

ahh, ok I'll can my idea of coming down as the 125 isn't that quick & really it appears the B cct is the one I'd want to do if travelling that far. That's what we would have used for the BOB a million years ago huh? Crap I spent the weekend putting the 125 together.

B track in June 24th?

Answering my own question (thanks Tony B on NZSB)

BEARS & thus buckets
RUAPUNA. Round 1 full track Sunday May 6 Round 1 Full track (Scrutineering 10:30am)
RUAPUNA. Round 2 B track Sunday June 24 (Scrutineering 10:30am)
RUAPUNA. Round 3 B track Sunday July 15 or 22- to be confirmed.

So my nefarious plan is out in the open. Bring my bike down to kick the ass's of all you SI guys who are largely out of contention for a podium place. I shall whup all mid-fielders, unless I don't BWAHAHAHA!

Will I need Wet or Ice tyres for June?

Awesome racing today all those who were there and going hard. Funny watching Glen play with Dangerous in the open Post Classics at the end of the day - classic stuff. Good clean racing though, you guys did bloody well. Nice wheelies too Bren, shame about the launch! :bleh:

Great to meet all those I met there - my first time out at a BEARS / buckets meet. Don't know if you'll convince me out on the track on a bucket any time soon though, I'd like to try some have a go days to get used to riding on the track before trying to race! Will see about hooning down to Levels for the have a go day next month...

it was Stanko (Mike) playing with him, slowed down to let Dangerous catch up and then passed him before the line

All part of my friendly service...

Just remember that its only a half days racing. As tyger says, strangely enough the weather is normally pretty good. In two years I have yet to race on a wet track- practice in the wet yes, but racing to date has always been dry for me.

Very well, he's picked up the game considerably since last season

and I see the thread originator clean up Pre82, well done John

erm, why is it only half a days racing? just because of the other classes or a short day in all?

Probably good we postponed coming down as J-Lo only found the other parts needed for his Bucket on sunday & I've been forming top secret tuning parts from Kneedit.

Joni

Yeah Dave, its a short day over all... starts early arvo, with 2 points races for each class...

Yesterday there were a few all in's after the point races... that delivered some of the best racing of the day...

Bren_chch ... all I can is WOW! He fought Tony M off to come if just cm's ahead of him :shit:

F5 Dave
7th May 2007, 10:04
so 10:30 start & 2 races. Perhaps 2 practices? Not much track time? Why so short?

Joni
7th May 2007, 10:18
Sign in is 10:30... first practice is early arvo...

Wasnt as bad as it sounds, Rolled onto the track at 12.30 for the first bucket practice, then some bears class gave us time to get ready for pre82 practice, little rest and I had practice in Bears light. Then 3 races in buckets , and 3 in pre82, I didnt race in the Bears light in the end because the MZ250 I had was just far too hard to get my head around. When I got home I was knackered, lucky they didnt start earlier

F5 Dave
7th May 2007, 12:11
Crumbs so what you are saying is I should put road tyres on the GasGas & enter that in Bears lights, then borrow Matts tandem Rotax for Bears F2 or whatever then get the T125 going for Pre82. -Sheesh I don't have the room in the van for all that!

Just ship all that stuff down, get somebody to bring it out on race day and just fly down for the day. A bit like how Rossi would have it done !

F5 Dave
7th May 2007, 16:09
The T125 is a full restoration project starting with 2 doners, one an ex bucket, the other a refuge from under a tree rusting to death.

Hmm, air nz log onlin tickets, doop-de-doop.

Right, what is the address for Stanko esq? Have them sorted by EOM please.

Joni

Crumbs so what you are saying is I should put road tyres on the GasGas & enter that in Bears lightsBloody hell yes

Then you and Glen Hayward can have a play... he also rides a Gas Gas in the lights... he was flying yesterday.

I've been riding the dirt bike a bit lately. Then jumping back on the bucket it felt totally foreign with crazy quick turn in & lean angle ++. Not sure I could get my head around trying to lean the dirtbike on tarmac.

TonyB
7th May 2007, 17:49
so 10:30 start & 2 races. Perhaps 2 practices? Not much track time? Why so short? Like Stanko said- it's not as bad as it sounds. Most of the guys with Buckets seem to have a pre-82, and most BEARS bikes are eligable for more than one class. You get a practice in each class, two points races in each class, and then an 'all in' type race at the end of the day. I was slightly knackered after yesterday as well.

Well, a good day was had by all. it was interesting when we arrived - there were flash cars racing around the track and the Porsche Roadshow was there with marquees and tents etc. they were using the track untill 12:30 so that is one reason why we only had the track for the afternoon. it sounds like a full day would have been too much for some guys!!!!
I was photographer and enjoyed being out in the middle. I got some great shots and here a a couple from the day.
1 - Bucket lineup
2- D, Stanko & madkeenandy - with the youngster in the lead!!!!!
