Ages ago I used some 'Spectro' Heavy Duty gear oil (SAE85W140) in my Evo FXR gearsack and all was happy.... Since changing the fluids all round I've switched to some lightweight crap (sold to me by some lame-brain salesman with no freakin' idea of anything that's not in a brochure) and apart from this oil escaping more easily from tired seals (she's a reliable old girl and a great ride, so's the bike actually) I find the gearbox is noisier. This light stuff might be ok for newer Twin Cams (and suits both primary and gearsack) but I'm not happy. I can't recall where I found the Spectro originally and a couple of calls have turned up nothing.

Anyone know who sells Spectro oils?

I know a couple of places down this way that have it... a bit of a hike for you though!

It's the modern world, I have a telephone and a credit card.

Harley Speed and Custom 04 239 9272 definately have it.
Pretty sure I've seen the stuff it at TSS Motorcycles 04 569 3989 and Motomart 04 589 5106 as well.

The local Harley guy told me to use automatic transmisson fluid. He reckons it works better than even the Harley sludge. I bought me a bottle from Repco but haven't got around to changing it yet...
