Hi people

Thought I would finally join up.
I bit about me:

Have been into bikes since 15 - don't own a tintop 100% m/cyclist.
Used to work in the bike industry.
I'm a Auto Electrician.
Been a member of the local HMCC for 10 years.

Will be keen to help people with problems or needing advise etc.
Also will pick others brains as I'm always got missions that need
expert help (like fuel injection)

currently only own two bikes 1x RG50 and 1x YB8EI
I do all my own repairs and Modifications unless specialist gear is required.

Hi

I only know of one other Furano and it is also in Hamilton but have heard
rumours of one more in Auckland.
I'm suprised there are any here at all since only 152 were made and many were been written off racing etc.

I purchased mine last November from a total idiot called Ken Raynor in Wanganui - never buy anything from him as he is a F*#kwit of the highest order.
I have spent $2000 in maintenance in less than 6 months.
Although It had a new WOF Ken got all his from the VTNZ, as you all know
these guys dont check anything properly on a bike.
The big costs were:
$1000 front forks had bent cartridges and rechroming had massive stiction
Robert taylor said it must have had a massive collision and dodgy repair.
$250 steering bearings were knackered
$130 Rear sus linkage rose joints flogged out x4
$40 S/arm bearings x4
$200 Dustseal for s/bearings cracked and worn stand bushes.

Also had to change the liquid rust (coolant) and the black tar (brake fluid)
Alt wiring and alarm wiring was burnt out too as it had no fuse.
had many broken bolts too - one even had a allen key ball hend still in it
etc etc

When I told Ken the story he said that all he done in the several years and couple of thousand km' s he had it was oil, s/plugs and battery. I believe him cause nothing else sure has been done. By the way the s/plugs were wrong and the cheap battery is stuffed doh!
He said a dealer principal at Wellington motorcycles imported it from the UK.
If Wellington Motorcycles brought it in like this and sold it on to the general public they should be shut down as it was dangerous the way it was.
There are other signs that it has had several serious collisions also.
It's this sort of thing that gives the motorcycle industry (and VTNZ) a bad name - some people say private sales are dodgy, I say to them having worked in several bike shops myself: they will rip you off too make no mistake about it.
I don't think ken crashed it as he seemed too stupid to lie convincingly.
I said to him how did you ride it when the forks DIDN'T MOVE AT ALL?
he said he didn't know there was a problem, and sounded genuinely suprised!

I'm still very happy with the bike as it handles good now and just needs the rear shock seen too and the D208 tyre replaced.
If I had known the damage I would have still brought it but at a much lower price to reflect the money and time to repair it.
I tend to be an impulsive buyer which puts me at the mercy of scumbags and there are many.

Anyone got any similar bike dramas they would like to tell?

Bought my NSR off a greasy scumbag. Engine was rooted, had thousands owing on finance, and all running gear was knackered right down to the hand grips.

Sorted now, a few thousand later :mellow:

You wouldn't know how to debug a power valve system would you?

Its a hot Yamaha FZR1000 motor,with fuel injection!!
