I could use it to make a CB500?! I race a CB250RS!

I live in christchurch though, do you reckon it would be too much bother to post it down?

Cheers,

Sam

CB500 is a twin, though? Not sure whether it'd fit in an RS.

I was pretty sure that the CB500 was a single, like the same motor as an XR500?

Its got 4 holes with 4 round things in them and its got 4 exhaust holes and its got 4 places where the juice goes in and 4 pipes come out the side.

Must be a FOUR.

I was pretty sure that the CB500 was a single, like the same motor as an XR500?No no no. They where twins, 4s and recently twins again. The 500 four, evolved into a 550 because of gearbox/clutch layout changes then onto a 650 were the Honda sohc 4 line ended. The first 500 twins were dohc 450 "Black Bomber" engine layout with torsion bar rocker arms. The most recent CB500 twin has a water cooled motor.

Newer Cb500 twin info here- http://groups.msn.com/CB500CLUB/
SHOC info here- http://www.sohc4.us/
Earlier CB500T info here- http://www.mourneman.co.uk/motorbikes/bikes/honda_cb500t/index.shtml

You are perhaps thinking of the GB500. That was a single.

I have had a few queries about the engine.

The engine is currently in a few bits and not running. The head is off and there are no carbs.

I think the engine would suit someone who needs parts for the same engine - eg block, head, crankcase, manifolds, pistons, headers etc...

Looks like it would clean up ok.

I do not know the history of the engine. It came with a bike I purchased (CB550) and is largely of no use to me.

What condition is the rocker cover and rockers? Personnally I'd keep the alternator, points cam plate etc, head, rocker cover complete, camshaft/cam sprocket, crank and con rods, gudgeon pins, starter clutch as spares for the 550. The headers will bolt straight onto a CB550 block too. Also if the cam chain, tensioner/guide and primary chains are in spec they'll fit the 550 donk also.

Heya,

Do you by chance have a set of headers lying around??
I recently picked up an ex-MOT CB550...
Unfortunately the bike came missing the right exhausts, of the left two only one is serviceable. :'(

I do and they are yours if you want them. They are black (4 into 1) and have a little ding in them.

PM me.
