Shit, they're a good deal. Thanks to the miracle of cheap labour in China, Tailand and Taiwan!

I could see Just Fairings and paint shops suffering from this though

Less selection plus shipping from America would be pricey. Those prices on Trademe include shipping in NZ

You're right, looks like they're based in Honk Kong. US pricing and .com made me assume

Still they don't have anything for the NC35 on that site

I'm having a hard time convincing the parents too. I got so far as getting help with a loan at least, but the bike I'm interested in they say is too broken and it's too far away. It's not that broken and they are very rare so I won't get a chance like this locally

those are the actual fairings off the net yes they say bike pics.com etc, but those are the fairings, hes getting a set for his own rgv250 they are arriving soon.

Anyone seen any of these yet? They are made by a company in Hong Kong I believe...would be interested in seeing a set as I am trying to decide between these or TYGA fairings for an MC22.

There are heaps of them on ebay too. You could land some here in NZ cheaper by buying through ebay sellers. But after much searching I can’t seem to find any details about the company who makes them (which seems a little dodgy)??? Anyone with more info?

Now that the price seems to have jumped to $1300 instead of $900 either these or an unpainted TYGA set I am looking at are pretty much the same price.

Im guessing there is something weird. In the auction it states that you need to wait 3 to 4 weeks before delivery. If I buy a set, I won't pay until I am in front of him and the fairings are next to me.

This is the reason for the listings has been removed by trademe

I'm sorry but your listings for Sport bike fairing (NSR250 MC21) - 98260306 and
Sport bike fairing (R1 kit for MC22) - 98196573 do not comply with our terms and conditions and have been removed.

As you are not selling the complete bike, you need to list these items in the appropriate 'parts' category. When doing this please note that:

- You may only list goods that you have in your physical possession. Going by your auctions you have stated the goods take 2-3 weeks for delivery, this implies that they are not in your possession and as such I'm sorry but you cannot list them on the site at the moment.
- Also, you may not post your contact details on your listings (or questions and answers) nor can you reference other auction sites.
- Please also note that you may not offer extras in your listing that are not included in the price.
- And if you have several fairings for sale, you will need to list each one individually on the site.

The price of normal MC22 fairing is still $900, only the R1 style kit is $1300.

I don't know of course, but I can sympathise with the seller if he requires payment before. Can you imagine getting a $XXX.XX part custom made for some customer, and then he decides `nah, I don't like it' and you have to cover the cost yourself? With the custom painting thing it might be difficult to sell to somebody else.

I wouldn't feel comfortable buying from someone on the internet unless he could offer a gaurentee, or could produce parts that I could inspect before buying. Waiting 3 to 4 weeks for parts would be fine if it was a reputable dealer or someone who you knew did this often. Maybe if I met and spoke face to face I may be happier or if he only took a 10% deposit and took the balance upon when he had the good and could prove it, I would then consider it

I see your viewpoint too. I was just pre-empting any `oh he must be a dodgy bastard then' that might have sprung up if he did want things that way.

Well he's here now -- and if I recall the Trademe auction, was based somewhere in Manukau. So a face-to-face meeting should be easy enough to arrange. IIRC he said something on the Trademe auction about getting in some fairings for his NSR, so you might be able to check those out at least.

Try getting some bullshit email from them, basically saying I couldn't sell my bike anywhere else (ie, here) etc etc, and then... worst of all... not being able to send a shitty email back!! :angry2:

And I felt so good as I hit send... :weep:

Well I've been searching for ages for information about the company that produces these kits...they are apparantly made by a company M-Tech however actual company info is hard to get.

Did find a review from another forum though from someone who bought one for a CBR954:

the plastic is very very brittle, if you try to drill holes in it . make sure you go up in small increments cuase there is not much meat around the holes and you will tear off the plastic . the paint is ok .. but has lots of clear coat dripps on the edges.
also the molds they use or did use or whatever . all the parts are about 1/8th to a 1/4th to small so you gotta stretch everthing out and hope nothing cracks ( well trying to put on the rear section we had to stretch it out over the parts and WALLA it cracked next to the seat section about 2 inches long and there is a 1/16th inch gap from it not being able to close up )

also there is no tabs in the back to mount the rear brake light .. and also there is no tabs at all......it is all plastic plugs that you have to try to stretch the plastic body work into place . then drill a hole in the plug and hope that you can get it all straight ...the headlight doesnt even fit all the way in takes like 3 ppl to hold and pull and drill and put the screws in

....anyways it was a learning experiance and i would rather buy a full fiberglass set next time instead of the way to small, brittle plastic.drippy paint full fairing set from ebay .. ugggg

maybe i got a bad set or something . but be warned ..it is a pain in the ass to get on with out cracking and hope your screws stay in after everything is put together.

i think when all is done ..it will be a cool looking bike about 10 feet away

ugh.. tonight we were trying to fit on the headlight upper fairing assembly. and you had to stretch the windscreen upper part over the mirror mounting,s . plus the 2 bolts that go through the upper windscreen/bodywork/ fairing stay dont even come close with lots of pulling and stuff. ( i even went so far as to buy a front upper stay and lower stay brand new- just to make sure mine wasnt bent ) Nope it is the fairing

and the 2 bolts that go into the upper fairing below or behind the cluster. those plugs dont even come close .....gah > only thing holding it on is the headlight tabs and the mirror mounts OYE

but it is on ...it doesnt look crooked haha so far..just lots of stuff doesnt quiet match up.

just be warned maybe i got a shitty set were the plastic shrunk up ALOT..

Hope this helps...I haven't seen one myself, this is a review from someone else who bought one. Thought it was useful to put in perspective.

when the guy selling these gets his rgv fairings...by trhe sounds of it next week...i will get him to take some photos/ take some myself if need be

you don't seem to be sure if you are even talking about the same fairings?

wildcat_lgf
16th May 2007, 08:12
you don't seem to be sure if you are even talking about the same fairings?

Granted that the only details I found were from overseas sites, but through clever deduction I am pretty certain they would be the same:
1) Not many companies offer ABS plastic replacement fairings...most are Fibreglass
2) Not many companies overseas (particularly Europe or USA) offer fairings for small displacement bikes (i.e. MC22 etc)
3) The parts are made in China (could be Hong Kong which is technically China now anyway) and exported to wherever.
4) The photos on ebay (the review had a link) look almost exactly the same as the photos that were on TM - same replica kits available in the same models.

Don't get me wrong, they could be an awesome deal - but I think its always best to hear both sides of the story...I spent ages trying to find out more details because I was interested too. I like to do my research properly before entering these sort of deals.

i got a set from ebay last year for a 05 cbr1000 and when they say "does not fit like oem" they arent kidding. not ONE piece lined up with the holes. it took me a week to put them on as it was so frustrating. The finish of the paint on the outside is really good though, i couldnt find a mark or run of anysort anywhere. inside although dont see it is rough, no paint just overspray. cheap though so i guess its still worth it
